Sorry for this question again, I've read the relevant posts, but I am still not getting it. Due to the changes to this area some posts not recommended anymore, some are deprecated and some do not work anymore...

I want to create a "collection" called "Addams Family Collection" containing both Addams Family movies. The collection's  poster should show both movie posters (upper half one movie, lower half the other one).

Due to some non-reproducible clicking around I have succeeded in getting this result, but I cannot reproduce what i have done anymore (Emby 3.0.8500).

My filesystem structure looks like this:

/mnt/movies

/mnt/movies/Addams Family

/mnt/movies/Addams Family/The Addams Family (1991)/The Addams Family (1991).mkv

/mnt/movies/Addams Family/Addams Family Values (1993)/Addams Family Values (1993).mkv

1. I have the checkbox "settings->Library->Display->Group movies into collections" checked.

2. I have the checkbox "settings->Library->Display->Display a collections view to show movie collections" checked.

3. I think I understand what both do.

4. In the Metadata Manager it looks like this:

Movies

  Addams Family

    [lock icon] Addams Family Collection

- The Addams Family Collection in Point 4 has the tag "boxset"

The result is the poster of the first movie. What do i need to do, to see both movie posters on the collection poster?

Screen shot would give a better picture of the issue you are having, but nested collections will not work with "Group movies into collections" (*depending on your other factors).  It only works for collections created via the web interface or the Auto Boxset plugin.

As for both movies on collection folder not every movie has a collection created like that, but you can edit the poster image with "Edit image".

There are multiple images on TMDB didn't check Fanart.tv

I think this is not a nested collection - just two movies in their directory located in a parent directory (Addams Family) which is located in the top level directory (movies). I've created a collection and have added both movies to it.

What do I have to do, to see both movie posters in the collection's movie poster (upper half movie poster of the first movie, lower half poster of the second movie)?

I have done everything through the web interface, no fiddling on the file system.

I cannot provide a screenshot of what I want (collection poster showing both image posters), as I don't have it anymore.

Auto boxset plugin has never been in use.

/mnt/movies/Addams Family

/mnt/movies/Addams Family/The Addams Family (1991)/The Addams Family (1991).mkv

/mnt/movies/Addams Family/Addams Family Values (1993)/Addams Family Values (1993).mkv

This is considered a nested structure, but it does work as long as there in nothing (metadata/images) in "/mnt/movies/Addams Family" folder.

I've created a collection and have added both movies to it.

So you created the collection in the web interface?  If you did the what poster is shown now?  All you should have to do is click on the current poster in web interface and this will bring up a edit screen then click the magnify image to select a different image.

Yes everything was one through the web interface. The displayed collection's poster is the poster of the first movie (and the green circle with the collection's item count).

I cannot select a different image as none are found:

Where are you expecting the image will come from? Unless there is a collection on moviedb.org with the same name then there will be nothing available online to pick from.

ok, no selectable images happen when the collection is created without the "Search the internet for artwork and metadata" checkbox checked.

No split images though...

Actually I was expecting the collection images to be dynamically created from the movie posters inside the collection?

We could, although right now we are not.

Should be quite trivial with image magick.

Your answer in #6 did the trick - It's just the collection name. If the collection is called "Addams" then there is a poster for the collection containing both movie posters. For collections named "Addams Family" or "Addams Family Collection" or whatever, this poster is not found.

Sorry I didn't think of that as I was assuming the posters were generated on the server whenever a new movie is added to the collection...

Sorry the "Addams Family Collection" provides 4 posters.  As noted above, probably do to not having the collectionid "11716".

I don't know what exactly I have (not) done, but it is as you say - "Addams", "Addams Family", "Addams Family Collection" are all linked to collectionid 11716.

Once Emby knows the collectionid number the name is irrelevant.

It's not hard to generate thumbs but just try to picture a gallery of collections where some have an image from moviedb and some have sent generated thumbs. I thought it looked a little off so that's why i switched it to a single image so that they could blend in more.

The CoverArt plug-in can do this.
