HTPC23 4 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Got the MB3 app installed on my Lumia 928 Windows8 phone. Am i able to stream over the WAN with this app? I have connected locally at my home via the LAN with no problem, works great! Can't get it to work however if I try and access it via the WAN like at a friends house or something. Is there a setup guide for WAN connectivity/streaming? What ports I need to forward if any, etc. Cant find anything relevant with Google/Bing searches. Any help is appreciated - thanks!
Lee 212 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 You need a static ip address set up or a no-ip address and open port 8096 Sent by my HTC8X using Tapatalk
ScottIsAFool 517 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 You may also need to open up port 8945 depending on what version of windows the server is running on.
HTPC23 4 Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 I don't technically have a true Static IP address from my provider but I don't think its changed in over a year or more. I have both 8096 and 8945 setup as TCP/UDP thru my router pointing back to my internal MB3 servers which is running on Windows 8.1. Heading over to my friends house today to watch playoffs so will give it another try.
Solution HTPC23 4 Posted January 21, 2014 Author Solution Posted January 21, 2014 Well I got it to work. Not sure why I was having issues the 1st time around but I was able to stream a Blu-Ray off my home server to my Windows 8 phone. Pretty slick and pretty cool.
