Cleaning up media folders, looking for some tips.

Hi, I've been starting to clean up my media folders, trying to get rid of old/unused data/files. I've noticed a couple that I don't think I need, but I wanted to get the go-ahead before I erase anything. I now rely solely on MB3 for my metadata fetching/etc.

  • mediainfo.data / (episode name)-mediainfo.data - I only notice this in certain movie/television folders, and they all seem to be older titles that I've had since before MB3
  • metabrowser.dvdid.xml  - I'm pretty sure I don't need this, I believe I had these created by MetaBrowser a while back so I could use the info button on my remote to pull up some info on the title I was watching.
  • I've also noticed that my local trailers seem to be in two different formats: (1) In a "Trailers" folder within the movie folder; ie. "\mediadrive\Movies\Iron Man\Trailers\Iron Man-trailer.mp4". and (2) Directly in the movie folder; ie. "\mediadrive\Movies\Iron Man\Iron Man-trailer.mp4".

I know this may seem a little anal, but I don't like having anything I don't need on my computer since I've reformatted, I'm trying to keep everything as clean as possible.

So basically, I want someones "permission" to delete these files, if they aren't needed for anything lol.

Thanks,

Patrick

The mediainfo file is from MB2 so, yes, it can go.

The DVDid file is used by WMC to show info as you stated, so you may want to keep that if you still use MBC.
