Disallow transcoding not working anymore

Hello,
 
I unchecked "Allow video/audio playback that requires transcoding" for some users but they are still able to lower the videoquality, though the qualilty visually does not really change (240p still is FullHD)! Nevertheless in the admin Dashboard it is showing: "Transcoding" else it shows Direct Play.

From FFmpeg it seems as if it is only transcoding the audio, though I dont understand why.

 

This happens since I updated to 3.0.6020 (I think from 3.0.5986 but could be an older release). Before the User got an error message when changing to a low quality.

this is a remux log. there's no video transcoding happening here.

I unchecked "Allow audio playback that requires transcoding" so there should be no remuxing at all?

 

Furthermore why is emby remuxing from aac to mp3? This was played in Firefox/chrome on a PC which naturally plays aac.

 

Before update the user got an error message when trying to change to a lower resolution, now there is no error and emby is transcoding the audio...

We want to avoid the error. Transcoding and Remuxing aren't the same thing, but we can add a setting to dictate if remuxing is allowed.

Ok, I did not know that. I think it is good that the error does not pop up anymore (some users got confused about that).

 

Nevertheless I converted all files to mp4/aac to have minimum load on the cpu.

It would be great if something like disallow remuxing could be added in the users settings.
