icthusman1 23 Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 I have spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure this one out. I have an Artist "Dogwood" with multiple albums. I could not get this artist to show up correctly in Emby for quite some time. Every track from every album would show up under the first album found. So when I removed everything from the Music folder and re-added it, Emby said it found 158 tracks from the album "Building a Better Me". The solution I have found, for the moment, is to delete the album folder "Dogwood" and rescan. Emby now finds everything and places it in the proper album within the web client. However, this means I am missing an album. I have tried updating the ID3 tags on all of these tracks (used MusicBrainz Picard for this) but this didn't have any affect. I checked the FAQ for naming and didn't find any help. So how can I get this album put back in place without breaking everything else?
Luke 42079 Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 what is inside the folder dogwood? can you please provide more complete screenshots of the folder contents at various levels? thanks.
icthusman1 23 Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 This is the only other level to show. My first post had the main Artist folder. The folder structure being Music\Artist\Album. This is the album folder.
icthusman1 23 Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 So, I checked another artist who has a self-titled album. They are showing just fine. For whatever reason, it is just this artist (that I have noticed) who is having the problem. Again, everything is tagged properly.
Luke 42079 Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 your first post had the artist folder but it was clearly cut off at the bottom. complete screenshots are needed, thanks.
icthusman1 23 Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 So, it looks like it is working now. When I removed everything yesterday I also deleted all NFO files and any other metadata files present. Just now I added the self-titled album back and rescanned my library. So far it all looks good. I don't know if it was the metadata that had been saved previously by Emby, or just the fact that I let it sort out everything else then added this album back.
icthusman1 23 Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 your first post had the artist folder but it was clearly cut off at the bottom. complete screenshots are needed, thanks. Sorry, I cut off the metadata files in that screenshot. It's a moot point now so I won't bother reposting. Especially since it won't look the same now since I monkeyed with it.
FordGT90Concept 97 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 (edited) Self-titled albums are still broken. It's taking all of the songs in Gravity Kills (artist folder) and putting them in Gravity Kills (the album). The nfo file is as messed up as the Gravity Kills album (this is the ONLY nfo file in the whole directory): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <album> <review /> <outline /> The ID3 tags on all of the MP3s are sourced from MusicBrainz so the files themselves are correct. Here's the pictures of the albums: Edited May 27, 2018 by FordGT90Concept
Solution Luke 42079 Posted May 27, 2018 Solution Posted May 27, 2018 Actually, it's due to having songs directly in the artist folder. Try putting those into album folders and that should cure it all after a scan. 2
FordGT90Concept 97 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 (edited) I've tried that, doesn't fix it: The new nfo is as broken as the original. Edited May 27, 2018 by FordGT90Concept
Luke 42079 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 Try deleting that nfo file and then running a library scan.
FordGT90Concept 97 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 (edited) That's what I did. "Replace all metadata" scan, in fact. Edited May 27, 2018 by FordGT90Concept
Luke 42079 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 Just run a regular library scan by clicking scan all libraries. thanks.
FordGT90Concept 97 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 (edited) It's still not done refreshing metadata (96%) but it already appears to be fixed. Gravity Kills is now showing 4 albums. Edited May 27, 2018 by FordGT90Concept
