Cannot play movies with emby for Kodi

Hi, new to kodi. trying to set it up.

 

Latest stable releases of everyting.

Emby server is installed on a synology NAS. I see my emby server media showing up in my kodi for emby client. So far so good. But when trying to play something I get this error: playlist  - can't find next item.

Probably something very obvious but cannot find the solution.

 

In emby server log I see this:

It seems to me that kodi tries to direct play, but can't. Does your KODI device has rights to access the direct network path?

Yes, I can access and play media from the same device with emby theatre.

I also tried to install emby for kodi on a shield device. Same issue. Media shows up in kodi nut no playback. Same errors.

 

So my best guess it is a setting somewhere in Kodi buit what :-) ?

It is trying to play this:

 

\NAS1815\Media\Film\Kids\101 Dalmatians\101 Dalmatians.mkv

 

You need to set up path substitution, or fix your path substitution until this path looks right.

Thanks! Path substitution was indeed the culprit. I remember I had the same problem with one of the emby apps and fixed path substituion. strange that while it was apparently broken again but I still could access my media with emby theater and android tv app.

Those apps were likely streaming via HTTP and not direct playing.
