Harblar 29 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 So after the latest update to Emby Server 3.0.5927.0 beta I keep getting random notification overlays popping up in the lower right corner of my Chrome browser. "New Season NameSeason Unknown" I'll get 4-5 of these stacked on top of each other and then they'll disappear after 5-10 seconds. When I click on the little gear icon, it just takes me to the chrome notification settings page. clicking on the notification, in general, does nothing so I'm not even sure what's triggering it. A quick look at the metadata shows everything is normal. I'm guessing this is just a bug and it really doesn't seem to be affecting anything. Just curious, more than anything. 2
vpholbert 0 Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Have the exact same thing happening. I'm on Emby Server 3.0.5930 beta but it was happening in the previous beta as well.
Harblar 29 Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 How to Report a Problem Seems to be occurring more frequently lately. Here's the Log... emby server log.txt
Solution Harblar 29 Posted April 19, 2016 Author Solution Posted April 19, 2016 Ok... So I looked at the logs, even though it's mostly gibberish to me, I was able to at least Identify what shows were triggering the notifications. Turns out it was a number of Anime stand alone movies I had mixed in with my Anime Series. Something obviously changed with the way Emby handled that metadata since they worked fine before. I changed a couple to a TV series folder structure (for the ones that existed in the TVDB) and moved the rest to my movie folder. That only left 'Frisky Dingo', which has given me headaches in the past. I have no idea why... it is ripped and saved no differently than any of my other tv shows, yet it's always involved every time I run into a metadata issue. I even locked this particular show last time to prevent it from getting screwed up again and it still got wrecked! Had to delete everything but the MKV's and then split them into two separate Season folders before it finally worked correctly again. So... Best answer if you're having this same problem. 1.) Perform a Library scan. 2.) Look at the Server Log and do a search for unknownseason (this should show you the items that are causing the issue.) 3.) Check them out in the Metadata editor and make corrections to your folders/naming scheme/etc... as needed. 4.) Perform another Library scan. It should make the corrections and pop a notification for the corrected items. 5.) Perform a third scan. If it doesn't pop up an unknownseason notification, problem solved. Otherwise repeat from step two. Hope that helps. :-)
Luke 42085 Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Is this getting off topic? I thought this was just about new season notifications?
Harblar 29 Posted April 27, 2016 Author Posted April 27, 2016 Is this getting off topic? I thought this was just about new season notifications? It was. I was getting notifications every time a library scan was performed about an "unknown season" being added to my library (even though I hadn't added any new items). Turns out it was because I had a few movies stored in a share that was primarily tv shows. At some point, EMBY Server stopped recognizing those few items as movies and started trying to download Season metadata for them, hence the unknown season notification. Since it could never find any meta data for those items, it would trigger the notification every time a scan was run. As I mentioned in my previous post, I managed to find and fix all of the movies/shows that were giving me trouble. I haven't had that notification trigger since.
Luke 42085 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Well done. For what it's worth I also removed notifications for folder items.
