Shrom 6 Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 (edited) Hey everyone ! I just passed my Emby server (running under Debian 8.4) to SSL mode. I used letsencrypt to do it. So I have generated my certificate and I converted it to pfx one and putted it into Emby server using the admin interface. It work's fine on any Web browser on my desk and on mobile device. I have an url like that : https://name.domain.tld:port. I would like to stay to this configuration to avoid my website is accessible directly when you typing http://name.domaine.tld and redirect your self directly to my emby server on ssl. I don"t want to use a reverse proxy in fact. But when I'm using the mobile app on iphone and I put those infos below, the mobile app said that my server is unrecheable but this is not the case, beacause I can access it from my mobile using Safari on it ! https://name.domain.tld Port : my_port So this is not a firewall case (and I disable it for testing) So I tried (for testing only) to using a reverse proxy with nginx and when I do this it work's perfectly. I just have to enter https://name.domain.tld without port and the redirection is working. So I don't really understand why my emby-server is not accessible beacause my value are correct and it work's perfectly on a web browser. Do you have any Idea where my mistake is please ? EDIT : I tested using http mode and not https and it work's perfectly. Is the SSL is correctly supported in mobile app on a custom port ? If not I guess that I have to allow some mac address for the http port for my mobile device on my firewall but this is not optimal lol. Thanks Edited April 5, 2016 by Shrom
Shrom 6 Posted April 5, 2016 Author Posted April 5, 2016 (edited) I thought that my app was up to date but this is not the case, so I did it but the same error... anything else ? My emby server is correctly push to emby connect so I can select it but I can't access to it. I have the same result with app.emby.media Very very strange... I continue my test... Ok now it seems fixed for app.emby.media but stil persist with the mobile app... I really appreciate your help please Edited April 5, 2016 by Shrom
Shrom 6 Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 Ok so I don't find a way to do that, so I used the way said on that thread http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/22889-emby-behind-a-reverse-proxy-remote-control-issue/ and I chanf the default port to another one in nginx to simplify the rules on my firewall.. Thx a lot luke
Solution Shrom 6 Posted April 6, 2016 Author Solution Posted April 6, 2016 Wait a minute.. It's working now !! I think the solution is : Put the wan address in your emby administration paged (Advanced > Hosting) then wait for DNS propagation or a kind of and you will can use it to your app. This sentence let me why I tell this : If you have a dynamic DNS enter it here. Emby apps will use it when connecting remotely. Leave empty for automatic detection." Thx a lot @@Luke
