How long does it take for thumbnails do be generated for recorded tv

I would like to know how long does it take usually to generate a thumbnail I have recordings that have been sitting over 7 days without thumbnail is there something that is causing it to take so long ? WMC creates a thumbnail almost immediately.

 

Is there a setting that I may have accidently changed for thumbnails not to be generated.

should be almost immediate. but once in a while ffmpeg will fail to generate images for some files.

Thanks Luke. I will do more testing so it must be something specific to Australian recordings. I will keep an eye on the logs so hopefully the logs show something so that is can be fixed.

I found why it didn't generate thumbnails not sure why but it if it helps others in serverwmc there is a http tab and there is a tick box use URL instead of SMB/UNC paths for Recorded TV if that is disabled all the thumbnails are generated.
