jkasanic 12 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 (edited) I'm trying to update my library with emby. One issue I'm having is trying to force emby to use local artwork if it's present instead of downloading images from the web. Is this possible? I assume so since there's a sub forum dedicated to artwork contributions but I can't seem to figure it out?! Every time I search for new images I only have the option to use them from the web. EDIT: I should note that I figured out how to add the artwork manually using the + in the edit images section but I want to force it to use local artwork first and then only download missing artwork. Solution Luke 42083 Posted February 29, 2016 Solution Posted February 29, 2016 Emby always uses local artwork instead of downloading, when it's available. If that's not happening for you then I would take a look at our wiki which contains the supported image naming conventions: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Movie%20naming Let us know if you're still having issues. Thanks. 1
jkasanic 12 Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Thanks, the wiki helped. My backdrops are labeled *.fanart.jpg and it seems to be hit or miss if they're getting picked up. Probably something on my end. I did my first scan (approx. 800 movies and 40 TV shows) and it looks like info is continuing to be updated periodically with no user intervention even though the scan is complete. Some titles weren't recognized on the initial scan so I was manually fixing them but noticed they were being updated as I was working through a list of ones to fix (i.e. I would notice missing artwork so I made a note of the movie and then when I went back to fix it, the artwork was there).
Koleckai Silvestri 1154 Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 On some OSes, Emby Server will monitor your library folders/directories and retrieve information for unknown content as it can. The library scan doesn't have to run for this. This process shouldn't impact performance much.
jkasanic 12 Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 I'm using the Emby UnRAID docker so not sure how it functions but my TV info was populated about a day after the original scan. One other thing I noticed about local artwork. If I manually update artwork through the web interface and I'm not storing the files in my media folders, will a subsequent scan overwrite the manual changes if I don't remove the local artwork from the media directory? I only noticed this happening on a couple of titles and I modified many more so I went ahead and updated the local artwork for the titles affected. Havings said that, does Emby look at the last modified date of the artwork associated with a title to determine if the local artwork is newer and just keep the latest version?
