Thermopyle 1 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I was watching some stuff on my TV when I noticed Emby wasn't running on my server as the Kodi plugin said something about it. I checked the web UI and it wasn't accessible (connection refused). I SSH'ed into my server saw that the emby process wasn't running. Checked the log file and it was last wrote to several hours ago. last bit of the log file, let me know if more is needed, but it doesn't look too interesting. > tail server-63588671999.txt 2016-01-18 19:31:53.3808 Info HttpServer: HTTP GET http://192.168.1.2:8096/emby/Users/bfbdfded09ce4799bf841dd474efe632/Offline?format=json. Tried removing and re-installing the `emby-server` package, but that didn't change anything. I tried starting it directly from the command line with `sudo /usr/bin/emby-server start` but it just gives me a 126 exit status. I don't really know what to do next to troubleshoot this issue as I can't get any output or logs from anything.
Solution geaves 13 Posted January 19, 2016 Solution Posted January 19, 2016 Not had this particular issue, but rather than just do an uninstall and re install of Emby I've found the best solution is too do a remove --purge, then an autoremove, then do a clean install. The purge option will remove all the config files and the autoremove will delete any dependencies. I've had to do this twice recently due to some unresolved error, after an update which doesn't make sense, however the clean install seems to resolve it and mine is running on a headless Ubuntu server 14.04. Good luck. 1
thefirstofthe300 292 Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 That portion of log doesn't actually contain any errors so we don't have enough information to diagnose the problem. You can try doing what greaves mentions. If that doesn't work, please post the all of the log file from when Emby stopped here.

Now I'll try your advice. edit2: it worked! Thanks for the advice. Edited January 19, 2016 by Thermopyle

Well done but in answer to your question I don't back anything up as all the images and metadata is stored within each movies folder, once the libraries are re set up the scan takes care of the rest,
