Rotten Tomatoes plugin

Hello dev,

Doing a 'scan media library', I noticed that the Rotten tomatoes plugin tries to download metadata from the internet even if I have unchecked

the 'Enable metadata download...' in the 'Metadata' tab.

Do plugins have access to the server config?

Thanks,

Jocelyn

This is by design. If you don't want this, then just uninstall the plugin. The plugin has no value or reason to be installed if it can't download from the internet.

I don't disagree. I was trying to debug why my library scan are slow. Thus, I disabled the Metadata download for testing purpose and noticed the plugin was still fecthing data.

Thanks for the info.

Then why does the option to turn off downloading exist if you then ignore it "by design"?

Because the option refers to downloading of normal metadata for the items.  RT information is treated separately and is a separate plug-in.  It is assumed, if you install it, that you want it to get its data.

Ask the users who turn off downloading but still want this feature. I'll let you guys wrestle over it, just let us know who wins. Another question is why install the plugin if you don't want internet metadata?

One reason would be testing why a setup is doing something wrong. If there were, let's say, 5 plugin for fetching metadata, it would seems weird to have to uninstall them all to test with the metadata disabled.

If there was a per plugin disable feature (instead of uninstall), it would make more sense than the way it is now...

Overall, I don't care as long as I know the behavior of the server... However, many user will discover that behavior the long way (they will have to come here and take some of you developer time by asking about it)...

What happened to this plugin? I no longer see it in the catalogue.

The feature was incorporated into the base server.  I'm going to assume that since they built it into the server, it respects the "enable metadata download" option properly.
