Metadata Not Getting Correct Images From TVDB

I have been faffing about a lot today trying to get my tv series collection a bit more organised. I have a problem with my 'Top Gear' collection, i have all 22 seasons and a specials folder. I manually deleted all metadata and images from the folders and then downloaded the metadata again.

problem 1 - Seasons 1 - 22 DO have episode primary images but they are not the ones on TVDB, they look like random snapshots from the video. The season images are fine and so is the metadata info for every episode. Its just the images that are wrong. Is it possibly pulling these old images from the cache?

problem 2 - Its not fetching metadata for the Specials folder, the TVDB has a Specials listed under Top Gear and i have the files named exactly the same as the TVDB but it wont fetch them. I have tried adding the TVDB id to the metadata but it still wont work.

Any ideas what i can do to fix this? Cheers Guys

oh i have the entire family guy series and it is perfect, all metadata and images match the TVDB.

in the 'how to report a bug' thread they say to zip the larger files to keep all files 10meg and under.

Can you discuss the activity you performed during that log?

For example:

Around 16:00 I tried to refresh Series A in the metadata manager. I expected X to happen but instead I saw Y.

Thanks.

well i have some good news, i deleted the images and metadata in the same way i did before, this time when i did the refresh it collected the correct episode imaged for all 22 seasons.

It still wont collect metadata for the specials folder, as you can see it is only taking snapshots from the video and not getting images or metadata from TVDB. The 7 specials i have are named the exact same as the titles on TVDB.

path to my folder with  the specials   E:\Media Collection\Tv Series\top gear\Specials

specials still have the same naming convention rules as regular episodes so they still need the 0x-68 or S00E68. It's probably a good idea to support just the episode name but it doesn't as of now, never has.

Many thanks, this has sorted my problem, after renaming the video files the correct metadata was retrieved. Great advice (thumbs up)

do you happen to know why my movie folder is displaying differently from the other folders? I searched through all the setting but i could not find anything.
