Phate 1 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Hi, I updated the emby-server to the latest version 3.0.5724.6 from a version that was already called emby but was named mediabrowser in the filesystem. (Don't know the exact version). My machine runs Ubuntu 14.04. I created a backup of my data before (/var/lib/mediabrowser). I changed the repository path of apt to the new location and updated the packets. After the update the server started up but was missing any data. So I deleted /var/lib/emby-server and replaced it with my backup of /var/lib/mediabrowser. Emby-server does now know my user and all my settings. But the library is empty and it can't scan. The folders are still set though. If I click on "update" now it just says update finished but actually does nothing. Even the log goes silent about this update attempt. Every other access of settings I can see in the log, but the library scan is silent. (debug is enabled) I removed the folders and added them again, which didn't solve the problem either. For testing purposes I deleted /var/lib/emby again, created a user and added the library folder. It just scanned fine. But of course all additional data like information about the watched status is lost. I would very like to keep this information if possible. I don't need any other information from the old settings. It was very default like except for the two folders (Movies and TV shows). It would be nice if someone could help me out on how to keep the library database from the old mediabrowser and get it to the new emby-server. Thanks
gsnerf 26 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 It is possible, that you run into permission problems. Make sure to fix the owner of /var/lib/emby-server after replacing it with your backup. I think by default that user should be emby in group emby.
fc7 123 Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) Not sure if fixing permission (if there is a problem) will solve your problem. It sounds like you have to modify your library DB manually using SQLite that works for sure or another option can be to configure an alternate data path using emby server configuration file. Check the default emby configuration file for the correct parameter to configure of the second option. You can also search the forums regarding the first method since we already answered it in the past. Edited October 15, 2015 by fc7
Phate 1 Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 Thanks for your answers. It is not a permission problem. The rights on /var/lib/emby-server are correct. It sounds like you have to modify your library DB manually using SQLite that works for sure ... You can also search the forums regarding the first method since we already answered it in the past. Can you give me a link on that. I searched but I was not able to find anything related. Maybe I'm searching with the wrong query. I attached a server log. I can see an error that might not be related to this problem. I can see the library scan finishing right after it's started. server-63580529350.txt
Solution fc7 123 Posted October 16, 2015 Solution Posted October 16, 2015 Search for "sqlite" and you will find it. Anyway here it is: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/25351-upgrade-to-version-3057244-library-missing/?hl=sqlite&do=findComment&comment=246687 1
Phate 1 Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 Thank you very much. It seems I have overlooked over that thread. I was able to fix my library. I was not aware of the internal structure of the database. If I had known that the path is stored inside it I would just have changed the settings. Hopefully if someone has a similar problem he has one chance more to find a solution with this post.
