Unable to control a DLNA renderer

Hello,

I have installed Emby in an openvz container on Proxmox. All work except the Dlna. I have a audio Dlna renderer which works with my Synology Audio Station.

I have enabled the log for Dlna so you could help me to troubleshoot this problem

did you resolve this? i see some socket errors, but unfortunately without an equivalent environment to test with it's a little hard to diagnose.

I will try to install it in a KVM virtual machine instead of a container to see if the problem come from OpenVZ or my network

I am running the exact same setup as you proxmox host openvz container with emby. I have the network in routed mode right now and can't seem to control or access dlna renderers from emby. Have you tried running it using a bridged interface instead of the routed one? I am wondering if that's the issue since usually my openvz VMS indicate that they have an external ip of 127.0.0.2 (or 1).

Also I have a KVM vm with windows on a bridge where I also have emby (I am transitioning to containers from my original windows image to make backups easier) but on this vm I can fully control renderers on my network.

Let me know your thoughts. I will try switching the interface to bridged tomorrow and report back also

Good Morning All,

I have gone back into my setup this morning and am here to present my findings. Under openvz/proxmox(container) you must use a bridged interface rather than the routed interface to be able to control DLNA devices on the network.

Once you remove the original routed interface and add a bridged interface you can then start up the VM and make sure that the interface appears with the command "ifconfig -a" (http://www.tecmint.com/ifconfig-command-examples/). If you see your interface use the command:

nano /etc/network/interfaces

There you can specify the appropriate parameters to outline your static ip as explained in detail here https://wiki.debian.org/NetworkConfiguration.

for me I entered:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
    address 192.168.10.11
    netmask 255.255.240.0
    gateway 192.168.10.1

you might also need to specify some dns servers:

nano /etc/resolv.conf

and enter something like:

nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 8.8.4.4

The results for me are that I can see and control my DLNA devices just like when I had Emby on windows:

I hope that helps you with your emby container! Have a great Thanksgiving (Canada!)

Thanks !

I will try it as soon as I can

EDIT : It works, thanks !

Only one bug, if I launch a playlist on an audio Dlna receiver I can't see the playlist in the web interface however I can still switch to the next song

I'm not sure that's tied to this setup I think it's just part of emby. But I'm glad that it worked for you.
