Corwin 0 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I have a recently wiped and reloaded laptop. Before I installed MB on the laptop I uninstalled all other codecs. On the laptop I have tried both Theater version and MBC version. So let me show you the layout and what works and what doesn't. I also get the same results on the server. Server: Win 7 Ultimate. 8 gigs o ram. Laptop: Win 7 Ultimate. Now I don think it is the server cause my iphone and ipad work perfectly, even through the dmark firewall. I think it is something with the players in windows. If I load Divx it plays just fine in the Divx player. But no matter what I try i cant get it to play through windows. Everything in the theater version looks perfect, themes, fan art, movie into (1080,rating, length etc). I click "play" the player appears but the total length of the movies show 0:0:00. I get the same results with MBC. I have turned on the debugging logs and have attached them. I also have also attached the nfo file for my system. If there is anything else that needs to be supplied please let me know. The file types dos not seems to matter with windows client. Thanks theater-63521425508.log testnfo.zip
Solution Yogi 367 Posted November 30, 2013 Solution Posted November 30, 2013 (edited) Do you have a codec pack installed,if not search for Lav Filters and install these. It is a seamless setup and works right off the bat. Also have you setup it up using UNC paths, that is the recommended way of doing things.See the post below http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/674-media-files-folders-structure/ Edited November 30, 2013 by Yogi 1
Corwin 0 Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 During the install of MB Theater it did install LAV filters and xy-vsfilter. I do not have any other codec installed. With theater there is no UNC setup. I did try with MBC classic and setup the UNC paths but still got the same results. With the ipad it is straight server dishing out the file with out unc paths. Which works like a champ. ANything else I should look at? I did a complete uninstall of all codec's, reboot, reinstalled and same results. Anything else I should look at. The log file show a .net error. If I had VS still installed I could help alot more but still trying to find my MSDN dvd's.
Luke 42077 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 you currently near unc for theater because otherwise it will stream from the server. that will eventually work just fine, but as of now i haven't gotten to it yet.
ebr 16169 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 The UNC paths are setup at the server level so I don't understand when you say you did use them for one client but not another...
Corwin 0 Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Luke and CBW, On the server i had direct paths in the config (IE. g:\videos) This config worked great for my ipad and iphone for music, never tried to stream videos. It even worked from outside the network on 3g. Now even better news. I changed the server config to \\server\video and re-installed everything and the movies stream perfect to the laptop. Now CBW, when i was talking about the config on the client, when I tried MBC I used unc paths to the videos directory. But i can see this was a mistake since I had hard coded direct paths in the server config and the 2 did not jive. Your post about unc paths on the server was the light bulb moment On a side note and a long term MBC user I love the new format and appreciate all the hard work that has gone into this product. If you need any help with SQL or network problem more than happy to help such a great project. Thanks for all the help and you can call this topic resolved.
