It is not currently supported. I am not sure how genre images are set in Kodi, will have to look it up before the requests can be accepted. :)

Yeah not possible, Kodi uses local genre images rather than scraped in images.

Ah thats a pity, cant the addon copy the images then to the local client?

It could but that does not mean Kodi will pick it up so there is no point in doing it.

Why wouldnt kodi pick it up?

If it doesnt pick it up, then its placed in the wrong section

That's great for aeon nox, but not generic I'm afraid.

Yeah, for other skin, it just needs the skin name changed

But i guess you cant program that right

so it needs a generic place?

There's a change in Kodi version 16 (Jarvis) to support "Image Resource Add-ons", do you think this includes genre images? Kinda sounds like it might "Image resource add-ons which provides common image libraries than can be used by several skins and add-ons".

No that is not correct, not all skins look for genre icons in that folder. I know this as I have created/modded multiple skins.

This is not going to happen until the day Kodi allows genre art to be scraped into the local database...which is not scheduled at all.

The latest Kodi versions (Jarvis and onwards) use new resource image add ons where you can select from various types of genre icons.

Yes it does, I'm using that in my latest skin. There's approx 4 different genre icon sets to choose from. Expect more to be added as time progresses.

Aha so it's to wait for emby addon to support jarvis?

No it's not. Jarvis has it's own genre icon resource add ons that you can install. If you like your ones from Emby a lot then create a resource image addon and submit it to the kodi team. If approved it will then be available for anyone to install who uses Jarvis. Anyway unofficially the emby addon already supports Jarvis (I use it with the latest Jarvis nightlies with no problems at all)

To create an addon with images you do not need to be a programmer :)

Just take the time to read up on how to create an addon, include your images and submit the changes. This is how Kodi grows by people stepping up and doing things and not waiting for others to do it for them.

To create to addon, it needs to pull the images right.. (cause if they change in future...) instead of just adding them into the addon

Been start reading to create one, its not that simple lol

Actually IMHO the resource ones are extremely easy to set up, just take a look at this official one: https://github.com/XBMC-Addons/resource.images.moviegenreicons.coloured

And copy/change the bits to what you want...so new name and new images...piece of cake.

As for pulling the images in from Emby, personally I would not bother with that step...it just adds to the complexity and probably more importantly Kodi caches the images so updates would not be seen.
