Heckler 147 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 (edited) Just thought the devs should know that a simple problem within a filename can cause an issue. I have 4 seasons of BSG in which filenames were labbeled BSG.1x01-720p.xxxxxxxxx.mkv and so forth, and that the "-720p" cause the metadata to be grabbed as every single episode of that season in every single episode. For example, season 2 ep 1 has 20 titles rolled into 1, episode 2 has 19 episode titles in 1, episode 3 has 18 titles in 1... and so forth and so forth. The metadata then displays the episodes in the client like this example for season 4. 4x01-x720 - He That Believeth in Me, Six of One, The Ties That Bind, Escape Velocity, The Road Less Traveled, Faith, Guess What's Coming to Dinner, Sine Qua Non, The Hub, Revelations, Sometimes a Great Notion, A Disquiet Follows My Soul, The Oath, Blood on the Scales, No Exit, Deadlock, Someone to Watch Over Me, Islanded in a Stream of Stars, Daybreak (1), Daybreak (2) It can be resolved by removing the "-720p" from just after the episode number in the file, clearing the metadata and rescanning, I wasn't sure if this was something that you guys were aware that could happen. swhitmore 781 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I use the naming format like this: The Walking Dead - S04E01 - 30 Days Without an Accident - 1080p WEB-DL.mkvNever had an issue. Check the recommended naming convention in the tutorials too. 1
Solution gcw07 347 Posted November 6, 2013 Solution Posted November 6, 2013 That is intended functionality to support multiple episodes per file. Your best bet is to rename the file to one of the supported names. You can probably just change it to: BSG.1x01.720p.xxxxxxxxx.mkv And it will work. It is the dash that is causing it. 3
Heckler 147 Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 Yeah, I figured out that it was the dash causing it, a space either side of the dash would also work I think. Didn't know that feature had been added, which is great as I have numerous episodes which are 2 parters in one episode.. A question though... if I mark an episode as a two parter with both episode titles... will that stop the 2nd part being added as a missing episode?

Heckler 147 Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 EBR, It was just a question. Since I asked it earlier I did some testing. One episode I noticed was DS9.S1E01.Emissary kept adding the missing episode for part 2... which is part of another bug already known that keeps adding missing eps and stuff even if you've not got it turned on in client or server... Trust me, there are 12 seasons of CSI that keep showing up that were frustrating me and some 700 eps in total. # But that's getting sorted in a release due this weekend I think. Anyway... I altered the episode name to DS9.S01E01-02.Emissary and rescanned... Hey presto, the data now shows it as two episodes and the missing episode is no longer listed. I have some other shows that were doing that, but now I know what to do... it's all down to some new implementation of the series number I believe, so I need to adjust a few filenames to make it work... and the ones that were causing problems are old stuff I've knocking around the media centre for years. 1
ebr 16169 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Good deal. Thanks for testing and clarifying. 1
gthrift 64 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I guess this is the issue I was having with two episodes of The West Wing. I rename my shows using the following method: "Show Name - 01x01 - Episode Name." Episode 2x18 of The West Wing is titled 17 People and was named "The West Wing - 02x18 - 17 People" and Episode 2x21 is 18th and Potomac is named "The West Wing - 02x21 - 18th and Potomac". With that naming convention I was getting two missing episodes in the West Wing. One for 2x18 and one fro 2x21. I got around it by spelling out 18th and 17 in the title. I flipped it back to recreate the issue but it's not doing it now. If the missing episodes come back, I'll report back.
