no internet , no emby ?

I know this worked in the past, but has something changed in Emby?

With no internet, I tried to access Emby from my server. It either hung up or starting asking me to signin (if I was a premiere member)????.  The attempt to signin, just hung the system.

Any thoughts on what is happening?

This has been discussed at length.  Emby needs to check in periodically with their licensing server to verify premier status.   I don't love it.  But that's the deal.

As a lifetime member, why don't they just store a secret bit in the server that states no check required. Losing the ability to use  emby offline is amateurish.

Because that can be altered and mis used, to circumvent license.

In the past, people created a project called Emby Unlocked, which eventually led to Jellyfin. If something is left on the server, it can be altered and misused, as stated. What would stop people from backward engineering it with AI, as everyone is doing these days, and making their own certificate so they don't have to pay for Premiere. The checkin is a pain, but it's necessary.

You can still log in to your server even with no internet connection, but premiere features will not work if the server and client can't verify the premiere key.

Emby loads, shows the home screen.. When I select a movie, the message signin for premier (or something like that). When I select the signin option, nothing happens. It just hangs there, I can back page to the home screen, but selecting any movies doesn't do a thing. It just sits there

Are you using a client which requires premiere?  Can you try using the web client?

I use an android client. But, never mind. This seems like something that isn't going to change. I'll just revert to using VLC for android when the internet is down.

One internet outage shouldn't cause this. If it is, then we can help you and investigate deeper to resolve it.

And there is also no "sign in for Premiere" so it would be good to see exactly what is happening here.
