Anon42 0 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) So i was using Emby for a while now, and found i'd like to restucture my library. Previously i've had one general library for movies and one for series, but since i have many anime series and movies, that are less interesting for some family members, i have decided i would put all my anime in one combined library (mixed content) specifically for that. Unlike most conventional TV-Series animes like to have essential parts of their storys in movies. So for me all of a series goes into the same folder, as long as it's not separated in the TVDB. Spoiler So the structure of an anime is often like this: Season 1 (EP1-26) Movie 1 Season 2 (EP1-13) Movie 2 ... So with the library labled as TV-Series having it all together in one folder worked all more or less (when using absolute order). Now it seems to me, that the identification doesn't work correctly anymore, as soon as a movie is recognized (sometimes falsely) in a folder. So unlike before i can't tell the system anymore e.g. "mnt/Anime/Blood-C" is "249864" from TheTVDB. It was simply EP1, 2 ,3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, *some Random movie that a word and 10 in the title*, EP11, 12 and *the acual movie correctly recognized*. The solution here was fairly simple: I had to rename the Movie to S0E1 - *Title*... So that worked somehow. But now i'm struggling with the show Danmachi (TheTVDB Series ID 289882). Although that's the regular title around here (and a valid alias in TVDB), the autorecognition fails to recognize it as a series. But since it's no series it has to be a bunch of movies, right? Well, none a recognized. And i can't even identify the episodes as a series, because the system is expecting a movie ID. Sure, i could rename the folder to "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?" so it might me recognized correctly, but i don't want to. Here comes what i'd like to see: Simply allow to set for a folder what is expected to find there. Like Title:"Danmachi", Sorting Title: "Danmachi", Folder Content: "TV-Series"/"Movie"/"Structure Folder" So then depending on the setting you would get the according options and could do the identification work yourself. Example for false identification of a series folder as a movie folder if you care: Spoiler Folder "Hunter X Hunter" (contains the complete series Hunter x Hunter (2011) (TheTVDB.com Series ID 252322)) Episodes Named from before Emby era (but fully compatible as a series with absolute order): 001 - *Episode 1 Name* ... 148 - *Episode 148 Name* So what happend was that for whatever reason "028 - Nen Und Nen.mkv" was recognized as the movie "Alt, neu, geliehen & blau" (TVDB 191677) While all other episodes were not recognized. I guess this comes somewhat down to TheTVDB, because when you feed the search with "028 - Nen Und Nen" thats what comes back. But why the system tries that before resolving "Hunter X Hunter" that gives the results "Hunter X Hunter" and "Hunter X Hunter (2011) remains a mystery. If it was possible to identify the folder as a series folder that would be no big issue, but right now it's not working as I would expect it to. The next thing is, that the auto identification is somehow acting stupid in many cases for me. For example i have the series "Dororo" in a folder with the same name. There are 2 versions of that anime one from 1969 and one from 2019. So as expected the system will identify that series as "El Dorado" (208401). What the actual f? Thats so far off of 2 exact matches for the first 6 letters/full string. Next example "Attack on Titan". Here it is somehow understandable but still wrong, as it gives back "Attack on Titan: Counter Rockets". So instead of a perfect match, the system prefered the longer title. I can only guess why (":" in title is preferd over ""). Simillar for "Made in Abyss": Identified as "Made in Abyss: Maruruk's Everday". "Gate" became "Steins;Gate" "Fire Force" became "Strike Force Five" I could add more, but i guess you got the point. Whent there is a perfect match, why not take that as #1? I mean, as long as thats all correctly identified as a series it is fixable, but should it be neccecary? So my solution would be to improve the order in what titles are weighted: #1 Exact Match (including aliases) #2 Exact Match (including aliases)+ Ending #2a Ending =(YYYY) higher numbers first (but that is my personal taste, so it could be a setting) #2b Ending=":" or "-" + secondary title #2c Ending other than #2a and #2b #3 closest match (as it is now, or improved) I guess now that i made this account, i will give some more feedback/ideas, but for the topic of Edited 6 hours ago by Anon42
Abobader 3523 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Hello Anon42, ** This is an auto reply ** Please wait for someone from staff support or our members to reply to you. It's recommended to provide more info, as it explain in this thread: Thank you. Emby Team
marriedman 113 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Sounds to be like you want precise control over the media and how it is represented and it's play order. In my experience, the only way to do that is not to rely on scrapers. Emby does an excellent job scraping media info, but they are at the mercy of the metadata providers. The only way you are going to achieve exactly what you want is to switch to a NFO based library and/or using a media manager that can scrape anime shows. MediaElch just ended development so I can't recommend it anymore. It should still work for a while, but tinymediamanager (TMM) is still being developed and should be able to handle this. I personally do not like anime, so I have never used a scraper on it, but TMM has aniDB as a source, it might give you what you need. I use TMM and disable all scraping within Emby. It works pretty well, but you are responsible for double checking accuracy. TVDB and TMDB frequently get actors wrong and I am spending time correcting that. However, that is a lot less of a headache than trying to trick the scrapers into getting the order of things the way you want it.
Anon42 0 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Thank you for your time, and pointing me to that. Up until now i have not needed this, and hope i won't need it in the future either. 1 hour ago, marriedman said: Sounds to be like you want precise control over the media and how it is represented and it's play order. Well, actually im alright with the absolute order from TheTVDB. For most series i own, this works acutally good. Sometimes they have screw-ups or made at least debatable decisions in their order, but I, just as everybody else, would have the option to register and help fix things there. But that was not was my post was about. It was about Emby (with mixed content library) identifying correctly named content incorrectly, as well as handling folders containing series like folders containing multiple movies, while giving no way to fix that other than trying to rename folders/episodes.
Luke 43246 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Quote Now it seems to me, that the identification doesn't work correctly anymore, as soon as a movie is recognized (sometimes falsely) in a folder. HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
