MediaIntelNUC 62 Posted yesterday at 10:56 AM Posted yesterday at 10:56 AM (edited) Howdy yall. The strangest thing, all episode thumbs/titlecards have somehow been reversed and I cant recall that i have made any changes. The original primary thumb shows up when choosing "manage pictures" but it doesnt show up in the seson-episode overwiev, not even when i attach it manually by choosing the file directly. I have checked everything to the best of my ability but cant figure it out, and I occured before updating to latest beta so im guessing that has nothing to do with it. Suggestions and pointers would be much appreciated. thanx! N/ Pics attached. Edited yesterday at 10:58 AM by MediaIntelNUC

Luke 43129 Posted yesterday at 08:55 PM Posted yesterday at 08:55 PM Wow, so many users run into this it seems like we should just remove the option.

Luke 43129 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago It is disabled by default but what's happening is users are turning it on and then wondering why they're not seeing episode images.

Or maybe they're not turning it on and there's something else doing so? Most reports I've seen, the user had no idea that option was even there.

That's not uncommon - even though they actually enabled it. You just forget or you don't mentally connect "spoiler information" with the episode image so don't think it has any bearing on the issue.

Beacause if it was, then nobody would need any help with something that has written descriptions next to them in the server settings. /N
Neminem 1905 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago But this is not a server settting.. Its a app setting, that users can change to there liking.
MediaIntelNUC 62 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Doesnt change my point, like @ebrsaid, its a mental connection to spoilers. The reason this happened in my case whas that my girlfriend hates the themes/trailers playing when choosing an item, so she went in to the settings and thought she could disable them momentarily and she thought they were "spoilers" And she didnt tell me that she had tried to disable them. As i said, not as easy as just not understanding. /N
Luke 43129 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Right that's why the option was renamed to just "Hide information and images from unwatched episodes"

But then again, I should know better... Edited 3 hours ago by MediaIntelNUC
Neminem 1905 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Hmmm How should the writing be then? Any suggestions to a re-write of the description? To me its clear.

First off, i didnt say thwe writing was wrong, i just tried to make a point that sometimes users get it wrong for a number of reasons. 29 minutes ago, Neminem said: To me its clear. Im happy for you. 22 hours ago, Luke said: Wow, so many users run into this it seems like we should just remove the option. If so many users get it wrong, why not make it an admin-setting, and then it can be disabled and enabled per users like the other per/user options? /N 1 1
Lessaj 574 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago This is a per-user setting, not a device setting, maybe she should be using her own account so she doesn't change settings that you don't know about or affect your usage? Though I'd say that now you've been educated you know how to handle it. This should not be an admin only toggle feature. 1

Hmm so you had a bad experience with it, so you want to take the option away for those that like it? That's egotistical tbh. And setting it as a admin option, then you take freedom away from users. That's egotistical tbh. And there by forcing admin's to ask users if users want it or not. Since admin's don't know if there user like it or not. That's egotistical tbh. And if admin's don't ask there users, if they want it, should admin's blame Emby for taking away the option? That's egotistical tbh.
ebr 16736 Posted 48 minutes ago Posted 48 minutes ago 2 hours ago, Neminem said: To me its clear Yes, you took the time to read and understand it and, potentially, had a pre-conceived notion of what the option was based on your experience with Emby and these forums. We humans actually behave a lot like LLMs in that our brains are typically "filling in the blanks" and predicting the next word you are reading or hearing. This is why many people hear or see what they were expecting to see instead of what is actually there. There are tons of examples of sentences and words written in certain ways where most people will never see the fact that words are repeated or letters are backwards, etc. because our brains just fill in what we expect to see. Don't get me started on the number of people who purchase from us thinking they are going to get access to content. If anyone has really looked at our purchase page and what is necessary to complete a purchase you would never believe that could happen but it does - almost every day. We humans are just lazy sometimes and don't truly read or see what is right in front of us. This is all a bit of a tangent but it is why options can be very tricky to support in a lot of instances. 1 1

No, i never said that, i gave an example of how that setting can get screwed up, i NEVER said it should be removed, @Luke expressed a sentiment to that, NOT me. I dont hear you barking about them and how they "take away their freedom" 33 minutes ago, Neminem said: And there by forcing admin's to ask users if users want it or not. Since admin's don't know if there user like it or not. That's egotistical tbh. Just like the other settings that the admin control and have to communicate with its users if they want it or not. And an Admin finding out what their users want/like doesnt seem like something thats unheard of. How does the Admin know what the users like in any other of the Admin-user settings? If an admin didnt like to communicate with its server users, THAT would be egotistical. 37 minutes ago, Neminem said: And if admin's don't ask there users, if they want it, should admin's blame Emby for taking away the option? And if Emby chooses to remove an option it is their perogative, i NEVER said anything should be removed Look, I dont know why you feel the need to be rude, patronizing and semi-aggressive on a community forum like this. I realize that none of this displayed behaviour has anything to do with me, or anyone else really, and that this isnt personal towards me. I cincerely wish that you take a minute to reflect on wether your form of communicating can be, i dont know, improved maybe. Beacause if you dont take a minute to think about how you adress other people, THATS egotistical. Take it how you want but im not saying that to provoce you. /N
