David Patt 22 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 SO i have few external hdd with media. Five months ago some movies and tv shows start show 0 kb in size. Ok hdd get corrupted it happens. After that i just dont have time or energy to rebuild emby server so i did this last week( on new hdd). Put few movies and tv shows to emby and few days later again. 0 kb in size. I format hdd, delete Emby. Now in like four days everything is fine. And i copy , move TB of data. I dont suspect Emby of anything. But it happen on two different hdd and on two different pc (i buy new in the meantime). Now i am scared even install new instance of Emby or any media server. So what you think ? Its coincidence or i have something very wrong in my setup or software ?
Uncle_Frank 17 Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Malware, even formatted drives won't help you just keep passing it back to the drives when you plug them in. Clean your main pc most likely the 0KB virus which running malwarebytes should be enough to get you back on the right path. 1

Uncle_Frank 17 Posted September 14 Posted September 14 This actually is very common usually from torrents even news groups for example see the one from DRbanner 9.8KiB if you were to make a mistake not paying attention that's how you get 0KB on a pc. Not hard to get yourself in a pickle this day and age but the bad thing is all your data is now gone maybe try Ubuntu very easy to use most people love Nas for this very reason. Take care!

Take care! that is not that case , i even watch that movie or tv show , it also corrupt some files in emby folder , its funny that only files to get corrupted are in emby folder or library folder , files on same hdd but not in emby library are fine , i guess i do something very wrong also i try malvarebytes scan and nothing Edited September 14 by David Patt

David Patt 22 Posted September 16 Author Posted September 16 7 hours ago, Luke said: Did you try running hard disk scans? yes smart show everything ok after windows fix hdd , its just i power on pc one day and want watch movie and error and then i see movie file is 0 kb , or emby dont start at all and find out some files are 0kb , i have folder on hdd with gog installers and they dont get corrupt at all
ebr 16856 Posted September 16 Posted September 16 There is virtually no way for Emby to be the cause of this. Have you done other virus scans? 1
pwhodges 2106 Posted September 16 Posted September 16 If external HDs both show this but the internal one doesn't, maybe there is an issue with the USB (I presume) connection. Does the Windows Event viewer show anything possibly related in the system log? Paul
David Patt 22 Posted 47 minutes ago Author Posted 47 minutes ago So after two weeks testing i guess i figure it out. When pc launch , external hdd launch but when get to windows emby start but hdd power down (power saving) and sometimes i guess it corrupt data. After i turn off all possible power saving managament and i delay emby launch everything seems fine. Also i install app called KeepAliveHDD which write 1 kb txt file every five minutes and so far everything is fine. If i undarstand correctly some hdd have agressive power managament in firmwareand powerdown but when emby or anything else start crawling library it get corrupt, 1
