ZanderKeen 84 Posted Friday at 01:14 AM Posted Friday at 01:14 AM I have a Roku device that I used to be able to change the default tab when you open the "movies" or "TV Shows" folder from My Media to Genres instead of always opening in Suggestions. Is that still possible with the new version ? Am I missing something? I have it working fine on all the other platforms... Anyone? @ebr
ebr 16702 Posted Friday at 03:59 PM Posted Friday at 03:59 PM Hi. It would only always open in Suggestions if that's where you were last in that library. It will remember the tab you were on when you last used that library. 1
pwhodges 2098 Posted Friday at 10:11 PM Posted Friday at 10:11 PM They have for some reason removed the ability to set a default tab on the Roku. Now, if you happen to visit another tab, then next time it will take you there and you have to navigate back to the one you normally want. It's not hard, but it's out of line with the other clients (unless they plan to change them all!), and just that bit less convenient than it used to be. Paul 1

Paul Yes it is something we've talked about and we're using Roku to test the waters. 1

I really think that most people utilize one tab 90% of the time in the libraries so returning there works. We'll continue to monitor (knowing full well, the only people who will tell us anything will be the ones that don't like it). 2

I typically use the Linux app on my personal TVs (gaming-pc's) & apple TVOS for my living-room, guest-room & family-room so those don't function this same way, but the garage uses roku which is a shared TV so for us this new feature is not liked and we would vote against it if given the option to choose methods. I also have 1 remote family member using Roku and she also mentioned this issue to me as well. She goes between Genres & Movies often but would prefer it to open in Genres as default personally for her. Thanks 1
Tremas 212 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago As a regular Roku user, I have noticed but not said anything. I gave it a chance, but much prefer the ability to set what area is presented first on each library. 2 1
ebr 16702 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Just some background on why we are considering this: The configuration is complex and somewhat hidden. This alone tells us that the majority of people never discover it or use it and the new method will actually be a benefit for them because they will now go back to where they were before automatically instead of always going to "Suggestions" at the start. Again, the configuration for this (at least in all the other apps) is overly complex and muddled and we are moving towards the ability to customize exactly which tabs are available in each library which will complicate it even more. Returning to where you were before is a pretty common method of operation in most situations.
Tremas 212 Posted 32 minutes ago Posted 32 minutes ago Thanks @ebr. I understand the reasoning, but just giving you my user feedback.. Other users who aren't actively managing the system my have better experience. 1
