Actual time spent watching

In the class UserItemData I dont see any information about how much time was spent watching in total.

Is this information stored anywhere?

Is there an "event" or something, where a plugin could be made that tracks when they start watching a video and stop watching a video?  Thus the time spent watching could be determined and stored for later use?

Can you give me a hint as to where a notification is that could be sent to a plugin for start and stop playing?

I found how the playback_reporting plugin is doing it.
