crashkelly 62 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Good day all, Well unfortunately one of the machines in my rack has decided it is time to finally R.I.P.. I had two machines, one dedicated for Emby and one dedicated for media "organization", it is the later that died after about 15 years of use. Although it does suck, it does present the opportunity to build a newer, still dedicated, Emby server and take advantage of tech upgrades over the past 6ish years, the age of my current Emby server, and move the current Emby hardware into the "organization" role. Although likely overkill, I have specced out the following: Intel Core i5-14600K - Core i5 14th Gen 14-Core (6P+8E) LGA 1700 125W Intel UHD Graphics 770 Processor ASUS B760M-AYW WIFI D4 II LGA 1700 Intel B760 Micro ATX Motherboard G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C18D-32GVK Team Group T-FORCE G50 M.2 2280 512GB PCIe 4.0 x4 with NVMe 1.4 TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) TM8FFE512G0C129 For OS and software Wanting to do a sanity check to make sure I am not missing anything obvious. System will be/is feed media from a 45-bay Supermicro storage JBOD and has multiple, say 10, external users as well as 2 internal users. Emby is currently running on Win11 Pro and will be again after the upgrade. Anyway, thanks for any input Cheers Edited 2 hours ago by crashkelly added bullet
RanmaCanada 581 Posted 33 minutes ago Posted 33 minutes ago it's a little overkill. If you want to save money, just do what I did and grab a laptop off eBay with a smashed screen. 12th gen or higher is all that's really needed. I have mine being fed by a 24 bay UNRAID server.
