Dashboard.alert equivilent in c#?

Is there a "quick and easy" way to pop up a notification dialog from the Plugin API (which is not using the PluginUi at this moment)?

the best you can do is send a remote control command to a session to display a message.

Thanks.  thats kind of what I figured.

Are there any plans to recreate the "Dashboard" class API for the server side (not just the JS system)?

The reason why this doesn't exist for the Plugin UI is that it gives you something much better:

You can update any part of the UI at any time from the server-side. There is just no practical use case for showing a toast message.

Showing toast messages is about showing a message to a user at any point in time and no matter what the user is currently viewing. 
A plugin which wants to show a message to the user must always go through the session mechanism.
I see no point in showing a toast that is specific to a certain plugin configuration page (other than "Settings saved" maybe).

Which case is yours about?

The problem I have, is I am not (yet) using the PluginUI system.
