Hi all, I wasn't sure where to post this, so I hope this isn't the wrong section. As the title states, Emby needs to step up, to be more specific, their Marketing team needs to.

When I first started my own server I initially bought a Lifetime Plex Plass and thought it was great. However, I soon came across Emby and realized it's superior in every way. I bought Lifetime here as well and I currently have both running simultaneously on my server. I solely used Emby, but I spent money on Plex....so it's there.

Lately, Plex has been getting a lot of negative attention, collecting user info, raising prices, etc and everywhere I go people are upset and looking for alternatives. 99.9% are shouting about Jellyfin and I feel like I'm the only person begging people to try Emby. This is a great opportunity to gain new customers and grow Emby (don't become Plex).

Loving the new website design, and really hoping you guys can capitalize on this. You have the superior service, at a much cheaper price and I want to see you guys surpass Plex!

Stay awesome, never change!

Yup, agreed.

I have a lifetime PlexPass as well.

I walked away from Plex a couple/few years ago when they started with all their streaming and everything else nonsense. I also don't miss having 95% of the updates break all kinds of stuff.

I tried Jellyfin, but it just wasn't something that I could live with, at least at the time. Thankfully I found Emby and gave it a try. It took less than one week to get the lifetime Premiere license and I've never looked back.

Hi there!

This is perhaps a question more suited for devs etc. but out of curiosity, what exactly does "step up" mean?

Also, what does "be more specific" entail?

Thanx!

To paraphrase, Emby needs to be more aggressive in their marketing to attract people before possibly losing them to Jellyfin.

Things spoken aloud don't always translate well to text, especially if English is not your native language. Even then, region can make it difficult.

Hi,

I used every major media hosting software out there and Emby is easily the best. I'm also active on Reddit and what I've noticed is a lot of negativity towards Plex and their recent decisions, with many people jumping ship and searching for alternatives. General consensus however is that Jellyfin is the best alternative. Emby is rarely in the conversation. I find that disheartening, considering it superiority. I've tried my best to promote it whenever I can, but I think this is the perfect opportunity for Emby's team to be a bit more aggressive with their promotion.
