Arby 7 Posted Monday at 01:23 PM Posted Monday at 01:23 PM Every time I start Emby on my Fire TV and get the user selection prompt (as ocnfigured in the app) it shows me when the displayed users were logged into the server the last time. And every time the user that used that special client lately is shown with "0 seconds" (or minutes? whatever...) and that is not correct. As a software developer I might know how that comes: The client app is logging in as soon as it starts and THEN it shows the user selection dialog. It would be better if it lets the user select his/her profile BEFORE the app or the server marks the last user as "logged in now". Please consider this change...
Arby 7 Posted Monday at 01:34 PM Author Posted Monday at 01:34 PM (edited) Hi, Luke, I thought you know your own software, but I would like to show a picture I made just a few seconds ago: That is the screen of my fresh started "Emby for Fire TV" app. I (the 5th profile as marked) was the last user logged in, but that was NOT "0 minutes" ago, it was yesterday evening, so I would expect there "16 hours ago" or "yesterday" (as you wish), but not "0 minutes ago". (edit: clarified my request) PS: Ah, and as an icing on the cake, it would be nice if the App places the selection cursor on the last logged-in profile (here: the fifth one instead of the first). Luke 42961 Posted Tuesday at 03:20 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:20 AM What does the users section on the server dashboard say? I think it might be getting it from there, rather than just the last time using that one app on that one device.

Arby 7 Posted 4 hours ago Author Posted 4 hours ago As I understand, the server "only" handles the logins by the user and informs the clients about the last login time, yes. BUT the client unnecessarily seems to login to the server with the last user BEFORE the current user can select his/her profile, and so the last logged-in user gets the text "Vor 0 Minuten" ("0 minutes ago"), even if last user and current user aren't the same person. (The client can't know, b/c the user hasn't actively logged in yet.)

Arby 7 Posted 39 minutes ago Author Posted 39 minutes ago Let me explain something: My Emby Server is only on LAN. In my LAN, there are 5 people using it. 3 of them (our children) use their tablets or (Fire-)TVs. None of them uses a user profile of the others (I know, I can see it as an admin). I for myself (as the fifth profile in the picture above) use this profile only from one device - the FireTV in the living room. My wife uses this device also - with her own profile. I access the server also from my PC, but not with my own user profile, but as a dedicated "admin", so administration is done from PC. (Reason is that I can mark TV series as "watched" when a new season is complete for easier maintenance without interfering with my "watching" profile.) So, NO OTHER logs in as user "Arby" (that's not the real name, but that's not the point) from any device in our LAN, but me from this one client. And each time I newly started the client it shows my I logged in 0(!) minutes before. NONE of my family members is able to log into my profile on another device at the exact same moment, each of the estimated 200 days a year I use Emby on my TV. So let me ask you a question: Are you kidding me?
Arby 7 Posted 35 minutes ago Author Posted 35 minutes ago Sorry, but I am really upset. This is not the first post by me where your answers let me think that you don't really know your own software. It's not fun to report any issues here.
Luke 42961 Posted 24 minutes ago Posted 24 minutes ago What profile do you manage the server with using the server web interface?
Arby 7 Posted 17 minutes ago Author Posted 17 minutes ago (edited) 27 minutes ago, Arby said: as a dedicated "admin" This user is setup to not being shown in the profile selection. This is the appropriate section in the administrative web interface. As you can see: User "Ralf" was logged in 16 hours ago. As soon as I start the Fire TV Emby App this evening it will read "0 minutes ago" though BEFORE I selected that user on the start screen. Edited 11 minutes ago by Arby
