furnibird 7 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Hi All I have been using unraid and emby now for about 20 days now. I had only just released I have been software transcoding. I had installed the Intel app however I hadn't set this in the docker. Once I set this to hardware my 4k movie doesn't start or takes forever. I know it's an old pc but it works fine for my 6 uses. I thought switching to hardware would be better but it is not.
seanbuff 1401 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago What does your Emby dashboard say is happening during transcoding? Obvious follow up question, do you have an active Premiere subscription for the hardware transcoding?
furnibird 7 Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Yes I have a lifetime license. I have turned the transcoding off for 4k as it would just sit there. After searching, my CPU is no good for anything over HD. I don't have much 4k stuff and only have one tv that is 1080p the rest are fine. Streaming 4k movie with no HW is spiking the CPU. I do have an old nvdia 980t. However I don't that will make much improvement. Plus I want the pci slot for more sata in the future. Edited 5 hours ago by furnibird
Luke 42933 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Regarding the hardware transcoding, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !
RanmaCanada 581 Posted 58 minutes ago Posted 58 minutes ago Your device does not support HEVC. Please do not use the PCE-I slot for more sata, you would be better off to spend the money on an inexpensive Quadro card, and in the distant future, UPGRADE your "potato" UNRAID system. You're not going to be buying hard drives anytime soon with current prices, so buying an HBA is not exactly a smart move. When prices do finally come down, you would be advised to not only upgrade your MB/CPU, but also your case, quite possibly to a diskshelf. 1
