rcsnoopdog 17 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Hi, I have Emby set up at home so that 2 trailers play before every movie. On my server (Windows), this option is visible under Playback settings. However, on the Android/Fire TV version of Emby (Firestick 4K), I cannot find any setting to disable or change the “Play trailers before movies” feature. I need to know: Does the Android/Fire TV Emby app support disabling trailers? If so, where is the setting located? If not, is this feature server‑side only and the Fire TV app simply follows whatever the server is configured to do? Right now, trailers always play before movies on the Firestick, and I want to turn them off. Thanks.
visproduction 368 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) I thought the trailer pre-play preference was set by admin on the server and then all users get the trailers in all the same way. I have not seen an user individual preference setting. So, I think the answer is, as admin, change the trailer preference to 0 and no one will get trailers. If the same trailers appear all the time, I think that is because you only have a couple of trailer media files in trailers subdirectories for media or it could be that you only have a couple of trailers in the preview directory assigned with the admin controls. Add more trailers media files to stop only the two same trailers appearing. Edited 3 hours ago by visproduction

Yes but I want trailers & so do some other users, but some can't stand them being there & having to go next & move straight over to the movie - also I now have a user who is foreign & she has all movies filtered to her language but seeing trailers for movies she can't watch is rather annoying for her & also I would say another problem for her & me as admin is there is no way to filter tv shows by subtitle only the episodes so I have a separate folder for her & if I know a whole tv show has her subtitles the whole way through I add that tv show to her folder & add that folder to the original tv show folder so everyone else who can speak English can see it

Thanks for the reply. Just to confirm - is there currently no way to filter TV shows by subtitle language at the series level? Right now I can only filter episodes, which doesn’t help when trying to identify full shows that contain Ukrainian subtitles throughout. I’m using a workaround where I place Ukrainian‑subtitle shows into a separate folder for my foreign user. I just want to know if Emby officially supports subtitle filtering for TV shows, or if this is a limitation of the current system. Thanks.

TV Shows are collection of items (episodes) and have no media properties per-se (like movies & episodes do) so you can't filter them by any media (video/audio/subtitle stream) property. The best you could do is get a visual indicator on poster (with EmbyIcons plugin) which can show an icon on the poster if all nested episodes have certain language subs. You seem to know everything GrimReaper & a cool name to boot - on the plugin it says Plugins built by Emby community members are a great way to enhance your Emby experience with additional features and benefits. Before installing, please be aware of the effects they may have on your Emby Server, such as longer library scans, additional background processing and decreased system stability. Please click OK to confirm you've read the above and wish to proceed with the plug-in installation Is it really intensive as my set up is Windows 11 PC with an i5‑9400F, 16GB RAM, and about 30TB of storage across multiple 2.7–3.6TB hard drives, all plugged into four USB SATA docks — three dual‑bay docks and one single‑bay dock — merged together into one big DrivePool (L:).
GrimReaper 5072 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago LOL not everything, but I'm somewhat familiar. Thanks, btw. As with any other plugin: it is impossible to test behavior under every conceivable setup so YMMV, but said plugin generally shouldn't have noticeable impact on your server as it only overlays/enhances posters with desired icons. Anyway, you can read through the plugin thread and decide for yourself whether to proceed with installation: 1

Personally, I'm using material icon Closed Captions (CC), but as said, you can literally use any image you fancy.

If I choose a foreign film to watch then the trailer previews will be mostly foreign. I think having many actual trailer content helps get the experience closer to what you mentioned. Of course, it's a lot of work to find so many trailers of decent quality especially difficult when many sites protect even trailer downloads. There are some sites that do not. Even the production owner of trailer content is often fine with whomever grabs a copy. It is promoting their media.
