multi-file episode naming

Hi,

I cannot see in the docs here how Emby handles a single episode split across 2 files.  Do I need to merge them?

Thanks!

Yes, for the best result in my experience.

Thanks. Does that mean Emby still cannot handle multi-file episodes? …I saw a post on this in 2020. Even Plex can do it.

TBH I have never tried, since I had issues earlier.

And just decided to not try again, and combined all episodes with multi parts.

After that I never looked back.

Hi, it might actually work now but we haven’t thoroughly tested and documented it.

We still recommend joining the files.

Well, if you can share the naming format, I'll try it and report back!

It would just be normal episode naming but then you'd add pt1 to the end of it.

agh, OK.  No, I had already tried that before posting and it didn't work.

I tried " - Pt1" (Plex style) and " Pt 1" at the end.

Thanks anyway.

Might depend on how its named by TVDB or whatever ?

Maybe -

S01E01 name (Part 1).mp4

S01E02 name (Part 2).mp4

or

S01E01 name (Part 1).mp4

S01E01 name (Part 2).mp4

Personally, if testing I'd remove item from Emby, re-scan Emby db,  delete all info except the item itself, re-add and re-scan Emby db.

Thanks, but it's a single episode in IMDB; I just have it across 2 files.

Emby seems to think they are variations of the same episode rather than 2 parts of the same episode.

Hokay.

Just to mention I have the very first episode of Murder, She Wrote as given above (the second example, two S01E01's), and it shows up as Ep1 with an additional part.
