SuperCitizenEmb 40 Posted August 1 Posted August 1 In the past, sometimes you couldn't change playback speed if the audio codec wasn't compatible, so you had to go to Playback Settings on Android TV app, scroll down to Audio Output, and deselect 'Auto' and change it to something like 'force downsamping to Stereo" (or something like that) then it would force your tv to CPU transcode audio so you could change playbook speed for any video. This is the option that was recently removed, old menu: But this option is now GONE! Instead Audio Output has been replaced with 'Convert AAC' which does not seem to do the same thing. Server: 4.9.5.0 Emby TV: 2.1.51g So how do i change the video speed now for some videos where the playback speed setting is missing?
ebr 16599 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Hi. Unfortunately, we had to remove that feature for now from this app. You can use the standard app instead if this is important. 1
Solution SuperCitizenEmb 40 Posted August 2 Author Solution Posted August 2 (edited) Thanks for quick reply @ebr, but switching to the universal app is unacceptable to me, see my comment from yesterday: I fixed the problem by rolling back to Android TV version 2.1.48g using .apkm from apkmirror.com The Android universal app is horribly optimized for TV remote use compared to Android TV app. Edited August 2 by SuperCitizenEmb
SuperCitizenEmb 40 Posted August 2 Author Posted August 2 (edited) After testing out my rollback, i just noticed it's still not working! The old audio option is present in the Playback settings menu but it doesn't seem to work now. Was this borked in the 2.1.48g release? because now no matter what setting i select: Auto, convert to Stereo, convert unsupported to Dolby Digital none of them allow me to set playback speed in videos anymore ??? Neminem 1826 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I have read it. Trying to test it, but my wife is using our shield. So can't test it now. 1
ebr 16599 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I'm not sure why you are having trouble with the old version but that won't be a good solution anyway since it won't support any of the upcoming new server features. The next beta of the app will support speed adjustment for all audio sources. It will automatically switch playback method if necessary when changing speed.

Im running the ONN 4K pro box but I have also tried it on others. It loads the icons slower the scrolling around is slower. I should do a video I guess. I feel like one app is fine but then have like some apps where you can choose which interface you want. You are correct the standard is slow and not optimized for an android tv box its more set up for a phone or tablet.
