Has the way Emby Premiere devices are counted changed recently?

Hello everyone,

I have been using Emby Premiere for about 3 years with an 80-device license, and during all this time it has always been more than enough for my server.

However, recently I have noticed that my Emby Premiere device limit is being reached much faster than before. The number of users and the general usage of my server have not changed significantly, so I am trying to understand what could be causing this.

Has there been any recent change to the way Emby Premiere devices are counted or registered?

For example, are there any client actions or features that may now cause a device to be counted as a Premiere device when they previously did not?

I would appreciate any information about whether the device-counting system has changed recently, or if there are any other factors that could explain why my 80-device limit is being reached much faster than it used to.

Thank you!

Hi.  No there have not been any changes on our end here but your users may be using Premiere features that they previously were not.

I don't see a subscription on the email you have here but exactly what message are you seeing and at exactly what times?

Thank you for your response, but I have a question. I understand that Android phones don't count as Premiere devices, correct?

Additionally, could you tell me if these features count as Premiere?

Yes, but since when has it been like that? Previously, Android mobile devices didn't count as Premiere devices. Does anyone know when this policy started?

Full playback on mobile apps has always been a Premiere or per app unlock.

Every change to the matrix can be view using the Wayback Machine. Feel free to go back and look for any changes.
