Batt 0 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago When using the Emby on the iPhone, If I change networks, the Emby fails to change the network as well and just freezes until I completely close it and re-open it. An example of this is when I am connected to my home wi-fi and then get into the car. It may play a cached song, but the whole app freezes when trying to access the next song in the queue. When I on the wi-fi, I am connecting via local IP, when I am not on the home network it connects via my domain. When I look at the dashboard I see Home (LAN) access: http://<internal_IP>:8096 Remote (WAN) access: https://mydomain.com Is this a known issue, or a feature request to have this transition automatic?
pwhodges 2079 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I think it's meant to be automatic, but there seem to be some very long timeouts and retries before it manages to sort it out. I think it always does in the end (minutes), but it's quite irritating; I'm sure that it used to be better. I don't know if the problem is changes in iOS making it harder in the name of "security" or something - I wouldn't be surprised. I suspect there is also a connection between this behaviour and the way that sometimes the client will restart after about 15 seconds, even if you've started using it. Paul
Batt 0 Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago I have had a server for a few years and I have never seen it auto-change, even after a long period of time. I just thought it was the nature of the beast when moving from wi-fi to cell data, but then I got Spotify and that changes seamlessly, and yesterday, I set up a audio book service on the same server and the iOS app for that has a setting to auto fall back to local IP when the domain is not available (I don't have an option for a "hairpin" loopback on my router)
Luke 42810 Posted 46 minutes ago Posted 46 minutes ago It will auto change when browsing the user interface , but not currently during playback. That’s an area that needs improving
Batt 0 Posted 24 minutes ago Author Posted 24 minutes ago Thank you for the information, hopefully that that improvement is on the roadmap.
