chuwz 21 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Hello, I previously submitted a feature request for the Emby Universal App [Feature Request] Support for passing subtitles to third-party players, and you implemented it—thank you very much. Of course, there was a minor bug in that feature, [BUG] MX Player's subtitle selection won't follow Emby's choice (When movie has other embedded sub) which you also fixed—thank you very much! However, I noticed that Emby for Android TV 2.1.51g doesn’t have this feature. As shown in the video, when I open a movie that has external subtitles using MX Player, I find that there are no external subtitles at all. Screenbits 2026-07-27_120949.mp4 Please fix this bug. Thank you.
Luke 42794 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.

Hello, @Lukethe Emby Universal App is working fine: 1. Emby Universal App can pass external subtitles to MX Player. 2. MX Player automatically selected the external subtitles based on Emby's subtitle selection. Screenbits 2026-07-27_140249.mp4 Edited 19 hours ago by chuwz

Hello , as I mentioned in this topic [Feature Request] Support for passing subtitles to third-party players Quote Exoplayer is just a web player with basic functions MX Player is the most powerful player on Android, with custom gestures and rich features. MX Player has stronger decoding capabilities and a shorter response time when dragging the progress bar. MX Player is the first choice for local video playback. The poster wall of emby and the strongest local playback experience of MX Player will be perfect. We want to maximize the experience, so Emby only provides posters and metadata, and the playback responsibility is left to the professional MX Player, which is reasonable. As mentioned above, the built-in player of emby is slower and more rudimentary. Anyone who pursues a perfect experience will choose MX Player Edited 56 minutes ago by chuwz
