New app out just like Emby

Nuvio app looks like emby but it looks better imo only thing is it has no live tv guide and stuff but damn i tried it and it looks good just sayen. You may want to pick up the pace if you want to keep up just sayen.

Asked my wife what she likes better after I spent hours setting up nuvio and wife said she likes emby better lol. She dont care about the eye candy but i do i love it.

Doesn't even look remotely comparable IMO. It's not even a media server from the looks of it. After looking at their site and Github page I can barely even discern what it's actual function/purpose is. The only thing that is clear is that it's not a self-hosted media server.

Yeah it is LOL i had my entire emby database connected to it used it as home server 

So yes, it is SELF hosted if you want it to be.

Clackdor im not going to jump ship er nothin since emby added the large poster size for me to browse through all my movies and shows i will never stop supporting emby. I have my firestick setup as all xtra large posters i love it but would be cool having some eye candy it is 2026 not 1985 lol. I like that i can browse media and it plays live in the top right corner the movie trailers now that is fucking awesome i dont care what anyone says thats just cool.

So it's just a frontend then. The UI looks okay, but it is not a media server itself, so my point still stands that it's not directly comparable in that regard. Also just going to point out that it's still listed as in the Alpha/Beta stages of development.

These days I'm personally a lot more skeptical of new software, expecially anything I'm integrating into or allowing access to existing software I already trust, or other accounts for that matter. Too many instances of bad actors & poor coding/security posture. Huntarr was a perfect example of why it's good to be skeptical. Everyone else seemed to think it was cool until it was discovered to be leaking API keys.

LOL, cool. Emby can send a payload to your server and turn your puter into a hamburger. We all trust emby yes I could come on here and long as emby is running on the vpn ip they can find me and payload my ass do what they want just sayen. Plex is way worse, clients are cash cows. Plex sells all your data to 3rd parties and make loads of cash. 

Emby sells NOTHING no data sold no big cash cow payments no sneaky deals nothing.

After this response I'm done with this thread, but all I have to say on these replies is as follows:

Yeah Emby could send a malicious update, any software dev can, hence why it's not a great idea to just blindly trust or try every single GitHub project that looks even remotely interesting without doing some level of verification or testing in a controlled environment.

As for Plex, it's obvious that they sell user data, everyone knows this. Emby and Jellyfin's entire existence depends on the fact that they don't do the same shady things as Plex. This circles back to security around using third party plugins/clients with either Emby or Jellyfin. Installing or using anything that's not officially published by the first-party developer opens you up to the possibility that the third party developer has malicious intentions.

And honestly I'm kind of laughing out loud right now about the notion that Jellyfin is making exorbitant amounts of money from selling user data. If that were the case then they would actually have money to pay developers and have a decent client app ecosystem rather than relying on third parties to make the next vibe-coded android app that is just soooo much better than the 50 others that came before it.

Yes it is just a front end, only part I like is the trailers and animation it looks very nice. Basically just a 3rd party app that can be used to watch your emby library among other stuff.

Also you can use StreamBridge to connect your emby server to it and it will load your emby library into the front end and use imdb to display trailers and metadata, pretty cool just sayen. Be cooler if emby app had this  so people dont need go looking for 3rd party apps.

Looks pretty good. It has way less padding than the official Emby app which has also been a complaint of mine. The autoplay trailers within the card is pretty neat too, not sure that I'd use it though.

Yeah, you can disable the auto trailers or you also can have it muted so you see the trailer but can't hear it or set it to play the audio only after you click a movie you wanna watch then after a few seconds it will play a high quality full screen trailer until you back out of it. Loads of features i wish emby already had but whatever..

Yeah so I made another small video of what it is like with faster settings and main screen with no audio until you click a movie or show you like as you will see at the end of this small video.
