gustms 2 Posted Monday at 03:59 PM Posted Monday at 03:59 PM It's sad because the week before this started, my Trakt plugin updated 3 times (3.8.5, 3.8.6, then 3.8.8). Now suddenly, it stops working completely, and we hear nothing about it being worked on...
redaktorn 24 Posted Monday at 04:44 PM Posted Monday at 04:44 PM I can confirm that I have the same problem. Running server 4.9.5.0 in an Unraidsystem (Linux). It is impossible to get a new "pin" and it is an "oath" problem. Hopefully our clever developers can find out of it.

In conclusion: 1. Codex downloaded and decompiled the .dll of trakt 3.8.8.0 plugin. 2. Codex Re-developed the new auth process upon the 3.8.8.0 and then compiled a new version based on that. 3. Stop the server and replace the .dll manually and then start the server again. 4. Open plugin, click auth, go through the auth process. (wait for the code, open the trakt activate page, input the code, click "ok" and "Authorize", go back to plugin page and wait for the finish.) Are you willing to share the recompiled dll? Or does this go against Emby's t&c?

In my opinion this solution is not possible. (patching the dll-file) It is possible to change/update the way "oath" is handshaking in the dll. (trakt.configuration.trakt.html inside the dll-file) But the Emby Trakt plugin still expects a pin code to be written in Emby by user. And that is not how Trakt is working now since the update. The new Trakt shall communicate with Emby to show/provide the code inside Emby interface. (not old style copied from Trakt homepage). To do that - it would take a full re-writing of the code in trakt.dll. And maybe even some fixes in Emby interface so it can receive the code automatically from Trakt. But it is just my opinion......
nospotify 196 Posted Monday at 08:19 PM Posted Monday at 08:19 PM Well @MrNo0000says it works, so let's go with that factual response. Given the radio silence from Emby devs, perhaps they will provide via DM.

I was concerned if it can work at first. But then the de-compiling works perfectly so it just figured out. And what you said is right, the auth process was re-written and also the interface changed. I put some screenshots for you. I think anyone who has Codex or Claude could re-do this. Edited yesterday at 03:58 AM by MrNo0000

schnigges 0 Posted yesterday at 09:35 AM Posted yesterday at 09:35 AM Potential new Emby User here, I finally wanted to make the switch from Plex to Emby and tried following the Migration Guide provided by Emby and I am completely frustrated. The guide says to "Install and setup Trakt Scrobbler in Plex and sync your watch history" -> Does not work, Trakt Scrobbler seems to be outdated since Trakt does not support non-https redirect URIs. Found another tool that works, got my watch status synced from Plex to Trakt. First annoyance solved. Then I try to import my watch status from Trakt to Emby and this also does not work. Next annoyance with no workaround. These are the exact problems that made me want to switch from Plext to Emby. Plex does not give a .... about the issues that users experience with their product, but since this seems to be the same with Emby, I guess I won't make the switch.
ebr 16546 Posted yesterday at 07:20 PM Posted yesterday at 07:20 PM Please try updating the plugin to 3.8.10.0. Thanks. 2

jpangers 1 Posted yesterday at 07:34 PM Posted yesterday at 07:34 PM Updated to 3.8.10.0 and the connection to Trakt is working 1
BlakeJFarber 5 Posted yesterday at 08:31 PM Posted yesterday at 08:31 PM Worked for me as well! Was able to Generate a TRAKT code, activate it via the link, and confirmed Watched Status was sent to trakt via Scheduled Tasks with 'Export Library to Trakt' (even those watched over the past cpl weeks while integration was broken).
schnigges 0 Posted yesterday at 08:45 PM Posted yesterday at 08:45 PM (edited) Does not work for me. Freshly installed Emby instance, installed latest Trakt plugin version (3.8.10.0), restarted the server, clicked on "Get PIN" in the Trakt user settings page, a new tab opens in the browser, the follogin dialog appears, I click on the "Authorize" (Autorisieren) button, nothing happens. I would have expected to get an authentication PIN to enter into the Trakt settings in Emby or that the PIN would somehow be retrieved automatically, but not sure what the expected result should be because I could not find any documentation. Then I thougt, maybe it already worked somehow and tried to run the scheduled taks, but it runs for 0 seconds: Quote 2026-07-28 20:51:55.730 Info TaskManager: Executing Import playstates from Trakt.tv 2026-07-28 20:51:55.730 Info ScheduledTaskService-0HNNCT2HGS2F1:00000010: http/1.1 Response 204 to host1. You haven't updated your plug-in. That's the old one still.
signde 33 Posted yesterday at 09:04 PM Author Posted yesterday at 09:04 PM Was still broken for me as well after updating to the latest plugin v 3.8.10.0. Installed updated plugin. Restarted Emby. The Trakt user settings still showed "Get PIN" which resulted in the same old broken flow. Refreshed the Trakt preferences web page with dev tools open (which I have set to disable cache) and then saw "Generate TRAKT code" instead of Get PIN. I suspect the Trakt preferences page was being served from cache even though I restarted Emby server.
BlakeJFarber 5 Posted yesterday at 09:05 PM Posted yesterday at 09:05 PM And if you have updated your plug-in, you need a fresh browser session (you should not see 'Get PIN' but rather a 'Generate TRAKT code' button): 2
yingste 11 Posted yesterday at 09:10 PM Posted yesterday at 09:10 PM Appears to work for me now as well. Manually synced to get Trakt caught up. Scrobbling appears to work as well. Thanks
pdufho 0 Posted yesterday at 10:33 PM Posted yesterday at 10:33 PM Had to restart the Emby twice but on the newest version now. Thanks devs
Maisy 38 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I had to remove my old Trakt plugin, close my Emby instance, then open Emby again and only then could I see the new version of the Trakt plugin. Installed it, worked! (but I am still hating the "new" Trakt website.)
Killsting 0 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Thanks for the update! After update the authorization shows 'Last successful authorization: not yet recorded', but after clicking save, it still shows 'TRAKT authorization could not be completed. Generate a new code and try again.' Does this require an Trakt subscription to work?
