Luke 42791 Posted July 18 Posted July 18 OK that narrows it down but that doesn't isolate it to Emby Server. There could be something on the nas preventing the server from getting the requests. That's what it sounds like to me. If you're trying to access the server and you see absolutely nothing in the server log, then the requests are never getting there.

Open Settings on t main page of the nas. Go to manual connect. Choose EZ Router on the top of that menu. Check and see if the ports you want are open in the NAS firewall. If not, click on the "Self Define" button and create a rule to open those ports. Don't worry about the router ports, that only works if you use UPNP which is strongly discouraged for security reasons. Edited Friday at 04:18 PM by tedfroop21
ramseyn 15 Posted Friday at 04:25 PM Author Posted Friday at 04:25 PM Thanks, I'll take a look. Meanwhile, for some reason when I changed port forwarding to point to NAS2, it connected to the second NAS remotely. Switching it back to point to NAS1, I can still access NAS2 remotely as if the port forward is still pointing to it (but the router shows the port forwarded to NAS1 even after rebooting the router - very strange indeed). Looking at Emby configuration for the two NAS shows it to be identical (apart from IP address, but I mean all the user and network remote settings). I shall look at "EZ router) tomorrow (my time) - or later tonight if I get a chance. Thanks again
ramseyn 15 Posted Friday at 04:27 PM Author Posted Friday at 04:27 PM (edited) Ok it says I need an ASUSTOR ID which I don't know... So I created new and mistyped my email, which I now cannot edit. I get a warning that there are two NAS on my network using the same port (and so there are but at different IPs). I can change the ports one of them uses later. But meanwhile it says "certain port forwarding configurations were not successfully enabled." - but doesn't tell me which. Edited Friday at 04:35 PM by ramseyn
ramseyn 15 Posted Friday at 04:41 PM Author Posted Friday at 04:41 PM (edited) I can access the NAS remotely using EZConbect but Emby shows as "not supporting relay conbections" if I try to.open it from ADM. If I try the new port (I changed it) on my WAN address I just get the same old "Can't reach this page" error (connection_refused) ... And now I can't connect to NAS2 remotely. So that made things worse. Edited Friday at 04:44 PM by ramseyn
ramseyn 15 Posted 35 minutes ago Author Posted 35 minutes ago (edited) Restarted the router, and I now have remote access to NAS1; while port forwarding is to that NAS. This is as it should be but strange as it's not the behaviour I had before and the router has been rebooted before during this troubleshooting. I am testing by simply turning off WiFi in the expectation that Emby will automatically try the WAN address (if it didn't it would presumably do nothing or generate a connection failed message)? I have yet to try from somewhere well away from the house. Edited 33 minutes ago by ramseyn
