Universal App: Home Screen updates

Hello,

ich recently switched from AppleTV to AndroidTV. Specifically Google Streamer 4K.

ich tested both the deprecated Tv app and the universal app. I stuck with the universal since the forums state this is the future. 
 

I am pretty happy with the app and all works. Except for updates of the Home Screen. When I turn the tv off and add a new episode or watch an episode on another device and then come back to the tv, the home screens „continue warching“ is still as if I turned it off. Going to the android Home Screen and reopen the app nothing updates. 
I need to force close the app and restart or watch another episode and return to the Home Screen to have it update. 
currently I solve this by navigating to the show in my favorites, enter the season and play the new episode. 
I with it would update when the app is back in foreground.

is there a setting or anyone else having this problem? It worked perfectly on my appletv and iOS devices.

Sounds like something mentioned a few years ago. Don't think this is a problem with the old app.

Are you just hitting the Home button when exiting?  What happens if you use the Exit command within the app?

I installed the app from the google playstore. Should be the latest stable version. 
 

yes I do close the app with the home button. If I use the exit command and open the app it refreshes the progress.

I may have found the problem in my setup. Not sure yet but will observe it. 
I am using the projectivity launcher and hitting the home button just brings me to the custom launcher. 
I now closed the launcher and used stock Android. And it seems to update the continue watching section when I reopen emby from the stock launcher. 
I am not deep enough into Android to know if this makes a difference.

Nope that was not it. It happens with the default stock google launcher aswell. It was working but when I turned the tv on, started emby nothing updated. I tried again, with home and open the app. I tried to open another app and the open emby, but nothing. 
I hit back until it asked me to exit emby. And after exiting (closing) the app completely and then reopen it refreshed.

If you click the home button it doesn't actually close the app and it's still running in the background.  That way you can do things like use PiP or play music from Emby while using other apps.  If you click Exit instead it actually fully closes the app just like if you force closed it by double clicking the Home button.  

My guess is that it isn't refreshing unless the app is fully closed and reopened.  In other words, it doesn't automatically recheck the server for updates and refresh except on first start.  So, when you open it without Exiting it just pops up what you saw the last time you used it because it was never closed. 

That's for the devs to decide though because there should be a way to make it recheck the server and refresh without forcing it to close.
