howllor 40 Posted Monday at 12:14 PM Posted Monday at 12:14 PM (edited) I've got a problem where one track on a 6 track album won't get the correct metadata. The embedded tags are all identical to the rest of the tracks that do get identified correctly. I've done the thing of removing the folder from the filesystem, refreshing the library, putting the folder back, and refreshing the library again, to flush out any old metadata, but with no success. Here is a direct link to the release on MusicBrainz https://musicbrainz.org/release/6a85c9e9-0ef5-4a13-a42e-0c42457b3120 Here are screenshots of the embedded tags of two tracks. The Jack Beats remix gets identified correctly, the James Yuill remix doesn't. When they get imported into Emby, the James Yuill remix doesn't get put onto the same album as the rest, it's treated as a separate album: When looking at the metadata that Emby has pulled, it looks like this. The first screenshot is the James Yuill remix, the second is from one of the tracks identifying correctly. As you can tell, the MusicBrainz IDs are somehow doubled. Even after manually editing the metadata in Emby to match the James Yuill remix to the others, it still isn't put in the album with the other tracks. Removing identification and redoing identification does nothing to fix it either. Here is a server log of me removing the folder from the library, rescanning, adding it back in, and rescanning again. Server version is 4.9.5.0, running in Docker on ElementaryOS. Please advise. embyserver(1).txt Edited Monday at 12:28 PM by howllor Added server version and OS.
howllor 40 Posted Monday at 12:40 PM Author Posted Monday at 12:40 PM Oh and here are the metadata settings for this library. But this is the only album I've ever experienced any problem with. Settings are also to read from and write to nfo
Luke 42731 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago HI, it's due to the differences of embedded musicbrainz album ids on the tracks.

They're literally the same: On 7/13/2026 at 2:14 PM, howllor said: Here are screenshots of the embedded tags of two tracks. Luke 42731 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago but not based on what came out of ffprobe, so there is probably other data in there that your tagging application is not showing you.
Luke 42731 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I'm assuming your metadata editor screenshots are at the track level and not the album although I can't tell for sure.

That's so weird. I'll try some other software and see what I can shake out then. 15 minutes ago, Luke said: I'm assuming your metadata editor screenshots are at the track level and not the album although I can't tell for sure. Yeah it's on the track level. I doubled checked the album level now in emby and it shows the same issue with the IDs "doubled" on the one with the James Yuill remix
Luke 42731 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago The upcoming 4.10 release will no longer group on those ids and will just look at artist names, so hopefully that will help make it easier.

I've now checked the tags in every single piece of software I can find (musicbrainz picard, NTag, Kid3, Puddletag) and none of them display any problems with the musicbrainz tags. I don't know what to do. Could ffprobe be incorrect?
howllor 40 Posted 38 minutes ago Author Posted 38 minutes ago solved it by making brand new files, so whatever junk tags were hidden somewhere got purged.
