Chris0248 2 Posted yesterday at 09:59 AM Posted yesterday at 09:59 AM Hi All, I have a very random issue, I’m uploading a 100% 1080p media file and then Emby sees this as 1440p from some reason. I thought i was doing something wrong so i put the same file through plex and it goes through as 1080p. Has anyone got any ideas as to what is happening please? Thank you for you comments in advance. Cheers, Chris
nuke11 24 Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago My guess it is something odd being returned by FFMPEG based on the encode of the file. What is the resolution that mediainfo gives you for the episode? 1080p: 1920x1080 2K/1440p: up to 2560x1440p, in my case I have as 2560x1072, 2560x1068, 2560x1066 for the 3 movies I have. I have seen some odd resolutions from overseas like 1440x1080, which Emby shows as 1080p.
Solution speechles 2100 Posted 21 hours ago Solution Posted 21 hours ago (edited) Emby uses both the width and height to determine it. Since it is wider than 1920 it is given the next size up. Because this is stored as 21:9 instead of 16:9 then it uses clever use of the aspect ratio values to fix it. It is encoded incorrectly and isn't correct and the people responsible made a quick fix with an aspect ratio bodge to the header and still released it to the world that way. These people race to see who can be first. In that race they make lots of mistakes.. often. tl;dr - This isn't really an Emby bug so much as an encoding mistake. Edited 21 hours ago by speechles
arrbee99 1843 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Has this got anything to do with why when filtering by resolution it seems get quite a few wrong ? eg filter for SD I get movies that on their detail page says they are 720p, filtering for 720 movies I get ones that say they are 1080p.
arrbee99 1843 Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago As a matter of interest, in my opinion 42 of the movies I have listed under SD, out of 156, should be under 720p.

The filter and display text are not unified so they can produce different results occasionally. It’s something that needs to be improved. Thanks. 1
