Will Emby for Kodi Next Gen suit my use case

TLDR - just want to sync watch state/progress

I've used forever and started using Emby (instead of Plex) for my external access needs. 
 

I have a SQL instance for the Kodi DB. I only want to sync the play progress and watch status. I'd prefer not to use an external service if I can avoid it.
