However, the information that I am finding here is a few years old, and even that doesn't sound like there are any definite answers if development for the PS5 is occurring or exists. Any info on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The problem for a native app is PlayStation app development is not an open platform that any developer can develop for. To build a PS5 app we would have to become one of their partners.
