folders automatically created by EMBY?

I have 2 shared folders on my Synology NAS that where not manually created.  Due to timing, I have good reason to think that EMBY created them automatically.

- photos

- video

Can these empty folders by deleted?

Is there a reference published that can confirm they were created by EMBY?

Hi, Emby doesn't create folders in your media storage, but rather the other way around. You import your folders into Emby Server.

What makes you think Emby created them?

DSM will automatically create those folders too.  Apps like Synology Photos, Media Server, Video Station, or enabling the User Home service will create shared folders with those names.

Strange.  I didn't create or import these folders nor have I used any of the Synology apps that are referenced.  They were created on 21 JUN 2026 which was 4 days after I installed the EMBY server software.  Other than updates, there's been no other change to my NAS in years.  I couldn't correlate any update with the appearance of the folder either.

I asked as a point of curiosity.  I started by asking EMBY users because it seemed the path of least resistance.   I'll just have to research this deeper.  Thanks to everyone for their input.

Solved:  I dug through the Synology logs and discovered that the folders were created via the installation of the Synology media server.  This is an install that I had forgotten about since it was uninstalled minutes later ... in favor of EMBY.

Ahh, cool.  So, it was one of the apps I mentioned.  Figured it had to be since the Synology media apps have been creating those folders forever.
