bobbintb 3 Posted Monday at 07:45 PM Posted Monday at 07:45 PM I was using Disney+ recently and they have a feature I never realized I needed. There is an open to turn the subtitles/closed caption on, off, and on rewind. I mainly use subtitles for when I miss something, so I end up rewinding, turn the subtitles on, then back off. The way it works in Disney+ is when you rewind, it turns the subtitles on for a few seconds. It's a great feature that I hope starts to become standard everywhere. 2
Luke 42691 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago HI, yes I really like this idea and want to add this. The problem is that sometimes turning subtitles on or off requires the whole video stream to be changed, so doing that would not be as seamless as how you are envisioning. What we could do is add an option to do it only when it doesn't require a video stream change, and that will work just fine. But then the problem there is that when it doesn't happen, it may leave you wondering why if you've forgotten about that detail. 1
bobbintb 3 Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago I thought of something else that may be an issue, or at least a special case that needs to be handled. Suppose a video has forced subtitles, for foreign dialogue and such. Those are typically the default sub and should already be on. In this scenario, instead of turning on subtitles, it should switch from English (forced) to English. 1
