Gjonesesq 0 Posted July 5 Posted July 5 I've just recently started getting this problem where I'm unable to play music through the iOS app when I'm connected remotely through Tailscale. I've previously been able to play music (mainly MP3) through the app. I can still play music when I'm connected through WiFi. I can also still play all video without issue. Im on iOS 26.5.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Luke 43134 Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
Gjonesesq 0 Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 I do have local network access granted. The issue is only when accessing through Tailscale. When I'm connected to WiFi at home, music plays with no issues. When I'm connected through Tailscale but access Emby through the Safari browser the music plays fine. It's just when accessing through the iOS app the music will not play and just rapidly moves through the playlist.
MarkSM 0 Posted July 15 Posted July 15 I have this EXACT same issue. Everything streams fine on the lan, streams fine externally using router NAT port assignments. However, with Tailscale the movies stream fine, BUT the music / audio files streams with no sound. Really weird. Mark
MarkSM 0 Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Update!! So I installed a portable version of Jellyfin right alongside of my portable version of Emby, same settings, same databases, etc. I then downloaded the IOS version of Jellyfin for streaming. Again, same or comparable settings. And ... Guess what? Jellyfin works!! And, unfortunately, Emby STILL does NOT, as far as audio file (AKA music file) sound ... NO sound ... So, I would really appreciate if someone could submit the necessary paperwork to have the IOS app fixed. Thank you!! Mark
Gjonesesq 0 Posted August 5 Author Posted August 5 Still is not working. I've updated iOS and even tried the iOS 27 beta. Tailscale is updated as well.
Gjonesesq 0 Posted 30 minutes ago Author Posted 30 minutes ago Hi Luke, Thanks for following up. Yes, I'm still having the issue and I've tried a few different things to see if that would work with no luck. My Emby server is on 4.10.0.40, iOS app is 2.2.58. I run the server on a Synology 1621+, so I tried new servers on Ubuntu & Windows. No music would play through the iOS app, but could play music through my browser. Tried installing Netbird rather than Tailscale. Same results. Tried moving the music location from the Synology server to locally on Windows. Nothing still. Lastly, tried accessing my Emby server through jellybox rather than the Emby app and wasn't successful there either. So I've run out of ideas pretty much at this stage, unless there is something with the phone itself.
