There is a bug in version 2.3.8 with .ass files

Hi @LukeI have installed this version and it does nothing. Started Emby, once installed, the Emby logo appears and it stays there and does nothing else.

It gives the same error. I'll stick with version 2.2.8 of the TV software, which works. I've installed and uninstalled it many times, and with different versions, and it's still the same. Whatever the problem is, if I ever format my PC or uninstall and reinstall Emby and it still gives me the same issue, I'll let you know. But for now, the only thing I can see clearly is that videos with external subtitles, whether .srt or .ass files, cause problems.

As I said before, I'll leave it for the near future, until I either uninstall Emby or have to format my PC.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times and several versions. And it's always the same. I'll wait until I have many more versions or until I have to do what I mentioned before.

When clicking on a video with external subtitles, this error appears that I have already posted previously. nothing else appears, this text that I put in the photo appears. If it doesn't have a subtitle... no problem it plays it, but if it has a subtitle it doesn't matter srt or ass, the error appears.

Would you by any chance have version 2.3.4 to install on the TV? With this version it worked, all the ones after none of them work.

I can't do that anymore because after installing, it gives an error. I uninstall and reinstall version 2.2.8, which is the one I use.

I don't know what the problem is, since it only happens with later versions. Version 2.2.8 works, but the newer ones give an error.

The error occurs during playback; the installation went smoothly except for the version that wouldn't start. The others installed fine, but when I select a video file with external subtitles, I get that error. If I remove the subtitles, it works correctly.

Does th .ass file include any special request for font or other custom details from mb3admin.com?  If so, then this .ass file may fail when used on a server outside of North America.  This could be caused by some setting of the domain owner at their host to limit traffic from overseas. What commands do the .ass files have in their headers?

Hi @visproduction, thanks for your help. Although I didn't understand anything you said. I'm in Spain. Beyond the operating system updates (Manjaro KDE Linux), I haven't done anything to my server. It's still using the same programs as always. I've always had a contract with the DIGI provider, which runs on CGNAT, and I never had any problems until version 2.3.4. From version 2.3.8 onwards, it's been nothing but errors. The only thing that's changed is the router, which they replaced a few months ago.

Regarding the .ass file, I'm not sure what to look for or what you're asking for, so I'll leave one here.

There are no fonts embedded in the .ass file.  Sorry, I thought it might be font related.  It isn't.  Your .ass file is rather old and the referral comment is to a domain that has since changed. That would not cause any issue because the file isn't using any embedded fonts.

The error for not finding a file at mb3admin.com is to an Emby server.    If you ran a traceroute to mb3admin.com you might find a delayed response because the conection has to to go through 20 or more servers from Spain.  If you are using a Wifi at your house that could possibly cause other delays.

Another error shows up and states that your workstation is using Framework: .NET 8.0.28.  That looks to be an old version.  When I go to: 
https://github.com/dotnet/dotnet/releases

The latest stable version is NET 10.0.10 / 10.0.302
Then on line 404 the update at api.github.com can't be found. Maybe updating your .NET would help that.

Your LInux version will have it's own method of updating software.  You should use that.  Sometimes the Linux versions are different.  I did not see an easy reference on what the latest .NET should be for your workstation.  If you use the proper update inside your Linux OS, it will do it correctly.

Then on line 520 you have another error regarding your drive mount path.  There are 14 of these errors.

WIth Linux mounting drives have to be very exact and correct.  There are often problems with this.  Ideally, you should corectly confirm that your mounted drives are setup the right way.

2) If you have Wifi in your media server setup, try direct connection via Ethernet, if possible.

3) Check your Mounted drives are setup correctly.

4) Being in Spain can take more time to reach US servers, but if everything is connected and working at top speed, it should not be a problem.

I've been to Barcelona, several times, Madrid, Malaga, Almaria and enjoyed te ocean and bay views in Valencia, That was many years ago during Franco.  The Police were a little touchy about being on the beach, after dark having a camping meal.  Eight police arrived, out of the darkness, armed with rifles to check us out!   We moved along.  Ha!

What you mentioned about the .NET Framework is normal, I think. Linux versions often don't run the same way as Windows versions. Even so, although it could be a bug, I don't think that's the case here. It's been like this for quite some time and it was working fine with version 2.3.4.

The strange thing is that it only happens on the TV. If I watch the same video on the server (the website), it doesn't have a problem.

My operating system is completely up to date. I don't use Wi-Fi; everything is wired, both the PC and the TV.

Regarding the errors on line 520 related to the mount points, that's correct, it happens, but only because the mount path corresponds to an external hard drive that I always keep turned off and only turn on when we want to watch a movie. So when I turn on the PC (server), those paths are disabled, so it's normal that they give errors. In fact, I tested it this morning. I first turned on the external hard drive, then the router (it takes longer to boot than the PC), and then the PC. I downloaded a log file from the server, and those errors don't appear.

What's strange is that it doesn't work with newer versions, starting from 2.3.4, but it does work with the 2.2.8 version that came with the TV.
