MediaEmby1968 76 Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Hi, there's a bug in the new Samsung version 2.3.8. It turns out that if I try to watch a series with external .ass subtitles, it doesn't recognize the file and always displays this error: "There was an error processing the request. Please try again later." And there's no way to view the file. This didn't happen with version 2.3.4, which is the one I had. It only happens with .ass files. If there are no subtitles, it works fine, but if there are .ass subtitles, it gives this error. To be able to view these files, I had to install the version that came with the TV, version 2.2.8.
Luke 42678 Posted June 29 Posted June 29 HI, please try the 2.3.9 update and let us know how that compares. Thanks.
Luke 42678 Posted June 29 Posted June 29 Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!
MediaEmby1968 76 Posted June 29 Author Posted June 29 Hi Luke, here's the record. I already explained my problem in the first post. embyserver.txt

SamES 1110 Posted yesterday at 07:23 AM Posted yesterday at 07:23 AM This looks like an old 2016 K series model. I’ll have to do a test in the emulator. @MediaEmby1968I might need another log with debug logging enabled. Were there any ffmpeg logs?
MediaEmby1968 76 Posted yesterday at 09:50 AM Author Posted yesterday at 09:50 AM @SamES As you correctly stated, the TV is from 2016. With version 2.3.4, which I was using, I didn't have any problems, but with versions 2.3.8 and 2.3.9 I'm having this issue with external .ass subtitles. Here's the new log from when I reinstalled version 2.3.9 (I was using version 2.2.8 on the TV), and also the log with debugging enabled. In neither case does it show any FFmpeg logs. embyserver.txt embyserver con depuracion.txt 1
SamES 1110 Posted yesterday at 01:44 PM Posted yesterday at 01:44 PM I can't see any request for the video file in the log, so it's failing before even getting to the subtitle request. If you turn off subtitles before you start playback, does it play? Can you please send me a server log with that test? I'm also seeing some of these errors in your logs. Does the server have a working internet connection? MediaEmby1968 76 Posted yesterday at 03:02 PM Author Posted yesterday at 03:02 PM I can't disable the subtitles because the option isn't available. When I go to the TV series library, select the series, and then choose the episode, it gives me an error. But if I remove the subtitle file directly on the PC, it works. That's why I think the problem is with the .ass files. I've also tried other series with episodes that have .ass subtitles, and the same thing happens. My server is a PC with a wired internet connection for both the TV and the PC. My internet provider is DIGI, which uses CGNAT. But I've been using Emby for several years with the same provider and haven't had any problems until version 2.3.8.

For the file you tested in the previous server log, can you please send a screenshot of the Media Info detail at the bottom of the item detail screen on the server? I'm interested to see what streams it has identified. I can't understand why you don't have an option to turn off the subtitles.
MediaEmby1968 76 Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago From the Server (The PC), I don't have any problems, the problem is in the TV app. There I cannot access, either through the "Continue Viewing" section or by directly accessing the library, it gives me an error. And it is not only with .ass subtitles, but also with external .srt subtitles (Checked this morning), if they are internal there is no problem. Here I leave you a capture of multimedia information
SamES 1110 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Can you try deleting the server from the client, then re-add it and try again. It seems like something has become corrupted. It might even be worth fully uninstalling the app from the TV, then remove power from the TV for a few minutes, then try reinstalling the client.
MediaEmby1968 76 Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago I have deleted the client, turned off the TV and disconnected the power for several minutes and reinstalled version 2.3.9 again and it still has the same error

I can find the file from a US server. Maybe turn of the plugin and see if that helps. Was that tried before? === For external subtitles, try naming the .ass file exactly the same name as the media .mkv file and use two letters for Spanish, so that the .ass file would be: Tracker 3x21.es.default.ass If that still doesn't work, try changing the media file to not use the x but the more standard season and episode title and also update any external subtitle filename: Tracker S03E21.mkv Tracker S03E21.es.default.ass Edited 2 hours ago by visproduction
MediaEmby1968 76 Posted 49 minutes ago Author Posted 49 minutes ago @visproductionThanks for your help. I've never noticed anything about OpenSubtitles simply because I don't use it and never have. I'll try uninstalling it since I don't use it. Regarding the renaming you mentioned, I've always used 1x05, for example, and it's always worked fine with all the versions I've used, and I always rename the subtitle like this: Tracker 3x21.spa.default.ass The strange thing is that it worked fine up to version 2.3.4; it was only after switching to 2.3.8 that problems started. In an hour, I'll uninstall 2.3.9 and install the one that came with the TV, 2.2.8, which works fine. I uninstalled the OpenSubtitles plugin and changed the file name to TrackerS03E21.es.default.ass, and it still doesn't work.
