Lifetime Emby Premiere Abo, yet App keeps nagging

Hi all,

the LG Emby app keeps nagging me about Emby Premiere even though I have an active Abo. Emby server is on 4.9.5.0, the app is on 1.0.50.

Is there a way to resolve this?

Hi, when exactly does this happen? Does your Emby Server dashboard reflect your premiere status?

It happens when starting playback or when trying to skip a TV show intro, for example. Attached is a Screenshot of my Emby Premiere status.

Does the LG have an internet connection?

It does not. I blocked it some time ago. I occasionally unblock it for updates. Is an Internet connection required? If so I wasn't aware of that.

Alright, everything works as expected with an unblocked Internet connection. What's the reasoning here?

The client app needs to contact Emby to validate your subscription.

As well as your server.

Alright, if that's by design then it is what it is. It's not very intuitive though, is it? The key is entered on the server side. The server has the verified Emby premiere status. Why is that not good enough for the client?

Hi, unfortunately some try to spoof the server in order to get things for free. The only way to stop this is to move the check into the apps.

That's understandable. Same thing with gaming. The honest players unfortunately also have to suffer the consequences of the assholish behavior of others.
