Luke 42682 Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Hi, it's in the server log. the notifications feature can also be setup to notify about media removed. 1

justinrh 282 Posted June 17 Author Posted June 17 Do you mean it is scanning for something it thinks it should be there?
Luke 42682 Posted June 17 Posted June 17 That snippet looks to me like the server isn’t aware yet that files were deleted
justinrh 282 Posted June 20 Author Posted June 20 (edited) @Lukelooks like there is a general issue do address. I just deleted another multi-version video and I see the same errors for the image files. Maybe it happens only for multi-version? IDK Edited June 20 by justinrh

justinrh 282 Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 Well, those logs are long gone, so here is a new one.embyserver.txt The mess starts at line 540 and ends at line 809, for deleting one multi-part item consisting of two videos. I wonder, Luke, why you can't delete an item and see the problem in your own logs?
Luke 42682 Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Can you show screenshots of how you performed the delete? Thanks.
justinrh 282 Posted June 30 Author Posted June 30 Oh, my. Pretend this is a movie item: Please don't tell me diff deletes have diff pathways to execute delete ...
Luke 42682 Posted June 30 Posted June 30 That's deleting an entire series. Is that how you deleted the multi-version movie?
justinrh 282 Posted Tuesday at 08:23 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 08:23 PM (edited) Luke, read the post again. Yes. You wanted to know HOW and that shows HOW. Edited Tuesday at 08:33 PM by justinrh
Luke 42682 Posted Tuesday at 08:45 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:45 PM OK i can't reproduce this on multi or single version movies. can you produce a new log with debug logging temporarily enabled? Thanks.
justinrh 282 Posted Wednesday at 12:48 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 12:48 PM (edited) I deleted 2 movies I recorded yesterday. "Last Train From Gun Hill" was not changed in any way before deletion. I don't see any errors in the log for deletion. "Law Abiding Citizen" I renamed the file (to *-ts.ts) and created another version (*-mkv.mkv) and I do see errors in the log after deletion. So maybe the is simply renaming the file since you didn't see an issue with multi-version. But I defer to your expert log analysis. (And, as a reminder of the other multi-version deletion problem, Emby still shows the item in the library 15min and counting after deleting it.) embyserver.txt Edited Wednesday at 01:25 PM by justinrh
Luke 42682 Posted Wednesday at 08:22 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:22 PM OK I see what is happening. When you delete the multi-version it removes one from the database and deletes the whole folder. The other version is still in the database. It gets cleaned up on the next library scan. So they either need to both be deleted immediately, or not remove the whole folder, and then ultimately we need to let you pick which ones to delete. 1
justinrh 282 Posted Wednesday at 08:58 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 08:58 PM Cool. Is that only why the item card hangs around, or does that also explain the delete errors?
Luke 42682 Posted Wednesday at 09:24 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:24 PM There's no delete error. The directory is gone but the item is still in the database. That's causing the UI to want to display the image, which isn't there anymore. 1
justinrh 282 Posted Wednesday at 09:53 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 09:53 PM (edited) Got that. So something like this is not an error? 2026-07-01 07:30:50.864 Info App: Removing item from database, Type: Movie, Name: Law Abiding Citizen, Path: E:\media\Recorded TV\Law Abiding Citizen (2009)\Law Abiding Citizen (2009)-MKV.mkv, Id: 1703723 2026-07-01 07:30:50.864 Info App: Deleting directory E:\media\Recorded TV\Law Abiding Citizen (2009) ... 2026-07-01 07:30:51.186 Debug ImageProcessor: Getting image size for item Movie E:\media\Recorded TV\Law Abiding Citizen (2009)\poster.jpg 2026-07-01 07:30:51.186 Debug ItemsService-0HNMF43P33BJC:00000083: http/1.1 Response 200 to 127.0.0.1. justinrh 282 Posted Thursday at 07:35 PM Author Posted Thursday at 07:35 PM @Lukeanother oddity with multi-version, in the web app I poke the Delete button and it shows a specific version but not the one that is set to play, so there is no way to delete a specific one though you can delete only one.

You can split the versions apart, then delete the one you wish to. Paul
Luke 42682 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Once you manually merge or split something then you will have to manually manage that item forever in terms of merging and splitting. You should be able to get to everything unmerged in the metadata manager. From there you can delete the specific version that you wish.
Neminem 1770 Posted 59 minutes ago Posted 59 minutes ago Hmm, why use Emby to delete files? I know its convenient, but is it safe? I always you filesystem to manage this, as I don't trust Emby to do the right thing. Hence my media is mounted as RO. 1
